Super User MarkH024 Posted August 22, 2012 Super User Posted August 22, 2012 Did Bass Pro and Cabelas drop Viscous Fishing products? I have been to both stores and on the websites and don't see their Fluorocarbon line anymore. I probably have answered my own question but the other question is WHY? just out of curiosity if anyone knows that answer I'd like to hear. Good thing for TWH! I'll be placing my order there I guess. Jake P Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Im assuming because not many people like it. I only know of a few on this site who like vicious flouro. I tried it and wasnt impressed but I didnt necessarily hate it. I know Big-O is in love with the pro elite flouro. Other than that I hear all negative comments. TW has anything you need anyways. Im always happy doing business with them. Sometimes BPS or Cabelas is more convenient when you cant wait though....... Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted August 22, 2012 Author Super User Posted August 22, 2012 I have had great experience with it so far. Its easy on the wallet too. Cabelas is literally 5 minutes from me so it was nice and convenient. Maybe ill check out that pro elite flourish. Quote
moguy1973 Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Walmart carries it. Saw it at our local store the other day when I was there. Quote
Capt.Bob Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 I use the 80# 100# and 130# test Pro Elite for Salt water and Muskie Ball Bearing Leaders, this heavy line works great, but the Cross lock snaps and Ball bearings are terminated with brass sleeves so there are no knots involved. But I tried some 8# for my Bass and Walleye leaders which use knots to braid and tackle, I really didn't care for it, I prefer the Seaguar Abrazx, it is excellent for the price and I like it much better than the Viscous. Super User *Hootie Posted August 22, 2012 Super User Posted August 22, 2012 I use Vicious Ultimate, a copolymer, and I like it just fine. Bought a bunch of it when BPS had it on clearance last year. By the way, when BPS quit selling it, I sent an Email to Vicious requesting a catalog, and a list of stores in my area that still had it. They not only sent me a catalog, but also a hat, 2 bulk spools of line, and some decals. Ironically, the #test was exactly what I use, 14#, and 8#. Ya just never know! What a freebie!!! Hootie Quote

Super User clayton86 Posted August 22, 2012 Super User Posted August 22, 2012 I just picked some up from wallyworld when i was home on leave spooled up 2 reels with it I thought it worked just find for how much I used it honestly I couldn't put down my jig set up so my plastics and cranking set ups didn't see much action and that's what has this line on it. When I did use it I liked it it was better then my old FC vanish........ Quote

If you want to try a good Fluoro, pick up some seaguar. The great line debate..........it will never end. I do agree on the Vanish comment. However I've had good success with Viscous, so that's why I was asking. I use KVD line conditioner on it and it has softened up and casts really well for me. I haven't had the abrasion, break offs like people are saying in reviews. Sometimes I wonder if those people are tying knots properly or retying when they should be. There are more variables to it then to just say it's junk. I fish mostly braid except for my cranking set ups. I see the same type of reviews on Seaguar as people are giving Viscous. Some say its great, some say its garbage. I haven't ever tried it so maybe i'll give it a whirl. I just hate shelling out money for line...I'd rather spend that cash on tackle. I guess it's just trial and error. I'll still order some Viscous from TW probably unless I walk into a Walmart sometime soon. I don't ever shop there so not exactly convenient for me. I'm open to other suggestions on Fluoro. Let's hear 'em. Quote

This has gotten some relatively good reviews on TW and some other places. Might give this a go. Thanks for the referral Quote
JCiurej34 Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 I like Sunline Super fluorocarbon. I tried it early this year because I heard good things about it. I haven't had any problems with it, and its only $14.99. Quote

Memory and random break-offs, which I cant stand. Knots were great, and abrasion was up to par. Just not good enough IMO. I was using 10#. Quote
MT2 Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I started with Berkley Vanish, still use it. A few years ago I picked up a couple spools localy of Vicious Flourocarbon and at first was extremely happy. However, when the time came to respool and buy more line I started having all kinds of trouble with memory issues, no breakage though. I figured it was some bad stock I got from this local store. But I ended up dropping Vicious. However recently in my search for a better flourocarbon. When I would visit TW, I kept finding myself looking at the Pro Elite. It just arrived yesterday and I spooled up one reel. As soon as I get it out on the water a time or two I'll give my 2 cents on the line. Quote
