Just Picked Up Some Spiderwire Ez Fluoro. Knot Suggestions??

I've used mono pretty much my whole fishing life, but I am tired of the line plumping up on the spool and reducing my casting distance. I wasn't sure what to get, so I went with Spiderwire EZ Fluoro. I soaked the entire spool in some KVD LnL, so I won't be using it until this weekend. This will be my first time using fluorocarbon line, so hopefully it works out well. Any recommendations on knots I should be using? I've heard you can use a palomar knot if you make sure the line is wet when you tie, but others say no.

I have heard that the San Diego Jam knot was one of the best for fluorocarbon. I don't use fluoro anymore, but I always used the palomar knot and only had a few issues with break offs. Not sure if it was the knot or a bad spot in the line though.

I'm definitely gonna give that one a try, along with the triple loop knot. I will have a review of this line next week sometime for those interested.

I have this same philosophy. most time a knot fails its b/c of the user. all knots like to lay a particular way, like the hair on ur head. they bend and twist different directions at every turn. the trick is to pay attention and respectful of the line from beginning to end. if its a small lure that easily fits thru a loop (like a jig or worm hook) i use a palomar. if its a larger lure (buzzbait etc) i use a San Diego Jam. i have never had a failure with either. i did have some failures when first leaning to tie them but it was my fault not the knots (was using mono back them). more importantly i can be successful with any knot now that i am a 'good knot maker'. oh yea make sure to practice lots when ur home in front of the tv. test the break strength to make sure its breaking 10" above ur knot. builds experience and confidence

Probably true. I use but 3 knots, clinch, improved clinch and a loopknot with all line types. Each one of these knots are easy, fast and I can tie them without flashlight if I need to.

Not that I don't bass fish, but do more saltwater fishing, my lines are not heavier than what many bass fishermen use. 10,15 and 20# braid, 14# mono and sometimes 40# f/c leader, IMO leader line takes a little more care than than mainline of the same size.

If someone feels they need an " exotic" knot, well go use it, what I use works for me.

Im a big believer in flouro.. since I fish soft plastics 98* of the time , love the strength but most importantly, supeprior sensitivity. Make sure the line is wet prior to the lock down. Kvd line conditioner is also key. Use seaguar invisx but plan on spooling with tatsu soon.

I have the whole spool doused in kvd lnl for the second time to make sure it's nice and manageable. Probably spool up my new revo sx with it friday before I go out on the lake. Let you guys know how the line performs.
