Super User roadwarrior Posted August 23, 2012 Super User Posted August 23, 2012 Well, there is NOTHING country about Keith Urban or Taylor Swift. Quote
Captain Obvious Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Well, there is NOTHING country about Keith Urban or Taylor Swift. If your listening to Taylor Swift your either a teenage girl or a man who is seriously lacking some equipment below the waist. Note I'm talking about her music here if you like her for other reasons then fine but I would be concerned if I saw a grown man rocking to "We Are Never Getting Back Together". I respect her as a song writer but after that she really is starting to get annoying. I don't have that much of a problem with Keith Urban. He isn't like Tim & Kenny wearing cowboy hats and pretending like they would be just as at ease riding a horse all day. Keith Urban gets slotted as "country" but I think he along with most people understand that he is a rocker with a country twang. Capt.O Quote
llPa1nll Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I do not listen to country. I grew up with a grandmother that listened to Conway twitty and stuff like that. I also remember watching Grand ole opry on tv with her. I remember seeing only one maybe two electric instrument on stage. When we would watch it. When I hear stuff like that I think of her. I was flipping through the channels once and stopped on what I thought was a rock concert. There was a stack of amps on stage full of electric instruments. Turns out it was some county awards show. I called my buddy the next day and asked him when did county get loud. He laughed and said a while ago. Also a few weeks ago. I was also flipping though the channels. I came across what I thought was a rock video. Here is the video. I have never seen a country music video look like that. If that is what there calling country now days. I am gald I am not a fan. HAHAHAHA! That video is funny. They have the same light show as KISS did when I saw them in the 1980s. Glad I don't listen to country too much. Quote
Jake P Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 haha true country girl shake it 4 me is pretty ruff. I've got a Pandora station with him and he has a lot of good stuff that comes across as genuine. I agree.I like drunk on you alot. Quote
detroit1 Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I like J. Cash's voice. That is the only nice thing i can say about country music. When i got married in '95, my DJ wanted to spin some country music. I told him that if he did, he would not get paid. He earned his money... Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted August 24, 2012 Super User Posted August 24, 2012 Hank, Hank Jr., David Allen Coe, Paycheck.........Jerry Jeff Walker.......Waylon.....It's what I listen to. It's country, or at least my definition. 1 Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted August 24, 2012 Super User Posted August 24, 2012 I'll listen to just about anything, honestly. I do get a kick out of all the haters though. (Captain) Obviously, they have found a niche in music and are exploiting it. (Not pointing you out, just adding something that made me chuckle.) There are tons of people buying the music, going to concerts and generally falling arse over tin cups in love with all the "new" country. Seems to me that the "majority" in this thread are in the "minority" in the grand scheme. Quote
