shadowchaser Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 What are some good soft plastics that are low profile in the 2 1/4 to 2 3/4 size range. It seems that our fish don't really hit on much over 3 inches here in the smaller heavily pressured lakes. I have been looking and can't find much under 3". Our fish mainly caught stay in the .5 lb-1.25lb range with a few bigger ones thrown in. Any tips or info would be great. Quote

Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted August 20, 2012 Super User Posted August 20, 2012 Is 3" still too big? FAT IKA and Damiki Hydras come in 3" size I use 4" size and 10"-15" size bass hit them. This on a 26 acre pressured lake. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted August 20, 2012 Super User Posted August 20, 2012 Missile Baits Drop Craw The Baby Rage Craw mentioned above either a 2/0 or a 3/0 will work. Quote
SissySticks Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Zoom tiny brush hog, Strike King Bitsy Tube, 3" senko, GYCB Tiny Ika, Tiny Fluke, 3" slider worm, 2" or 3" BPS spring grub, I could go on, but the moral of the story is, they are out there. These are all what I would call "super finesse" plastics, because they are small in guage as well as length. I fish most of them on #1 and 1/0 worm hooks or small jigheads with #4 or #2 hooks. Quote
shadowchaser Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 roadwarrior good call on the 6# line. My partner just spoke with an area guide and he basically echo'd each persons statements here. He stressed very hard that we should go to using 6# test along with lures in the 2 1/2-4 inch range. Time to bust out the smaller spinning rods. Quote
fishking247 Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 can't believe nobody mentioned a 3" grub Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted August 21, 2012 Super User Posted August 21, 2012 Look through the line of baits that the Charlie Brewer Co. has to offer you. oe Quote
shadowchaser Posted August 27, 2012 Author Posted August 27, 2012 I just got my order of Charlie Brewer Slider Worms and was amazed at the extra items they sent me. They sent me about 5 2 piece samples of some decent soft plastics for both bass and panfish. I will definately be using them again. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted August 27, 2012 Super User Posted August 27, 2012 Don't be afraid to bite an inch off the head of that worm when fishing gets a little slow. oe Quote
primetime Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 2.5-3" Tubes- Gitzit or other low profile....If the lake is fished heavy, use light line, no leader, keep the rig simple. Use lots of scent and fish it with ice jig or slider jig. they hit it on the fall. Or go weightless or add cork inside to float it. add eyes and swim it. Fish see the same baits all the time.Try a 6" Kriet squirel worm on a shakey jig. Its thin profile is key. Learn to drop shot/Split shot and fish slow and easy.Did I mention a tube...oh yea... and spike the tentacles with spike it marker. Hot pink or chart. 1 Quote
shadowchaser Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 Did great with a charlie slider worm and 1/8 jig head. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 3, 2012 Global Moderator Posted September 3, 2012 3" berkley power minnow on a jighead or dropshot or a Zoom meathead on a slider head or dropshot. The meat head is 4" but has a tiny profile and I'm sure it will still work. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted September 3, 2012 Super User Posted September 3, 2012 I was just able to take a trip to bass pro friday and picked up some of the new Strike King Dream Shots. Action on them is amazing. Smallies on the river really liked them. Quote
