the rod is extremely light, the sensitivity is up to par, the EVA grip on it has a comfortable feel to me, the white looks great,it has a ton of back bone, there are multiple models for plenty of techniques, their durability is great i have one thats been abused and no issues,they fixed the breakage issue and had great customer service when I complained, and cast well. I own five of them inluding the micro guides and cranking models. They are just solid rods.

Do you want a $30 rod or a $1000 one? Spinning or baitcasting? Are you fishing worms for bluegills, livers for catfish, or frogs for bass? Open water or lots of slop? In 4' or 30' of water? Fishing live bait, cranks, jigs, swimbaits, what? Please be a bit more specific. You will receive more rod suggestions than you will know what to do with.

i recommend the st croix premier they are around $100-120. how much are you looking to spend?

You still didn't give any more information as to what type of fishing you will be doing with the rod. Give a few more details and you will get better recommendations.

About the same money you can have a St. Croix, better warranty (5 years), better customer service, lighter, more durable, sensative and full Cork handle! or as WBN said Legend Elite, if you can aford it, Nothing Better! NOTHING!

It does boil down to price range, any rod under a $100 I personally would not pay much attention to warranty, speaking for myself it isn't worth the time and effort to send it back. I have never had a rod break on me regardless of the price, unless I closed my trunk on it. I'm not specific with actually recommendations but if a warranty is important a Shimano clarus for example has a lifetime over the counter replacement, which is the only warranty that appeals to me.

My clarus has been rock solid for about 4 years and gets a ton of use.

i noticed the e21 carrot stix have a lifetime warranty too, but i was looking at rods last night and i like the field&stream techspec rods may get a couple of them

Here is an idea. Head down to Walmart and grab and feel the Berkley Lighting Shock rod. 39.99. They are very nice rods for the money. Not sure of Berkley's warranty, but walmarts is bar none with a receipt.

Split cork grip, 40% exposed reel seat, hook keeper on top, 3 models to choose from and again that 40 dollar price tag is nice. They have a 6'6" medium fast, 6'6" MH and a 7' MH. I would suggest the 7' MH for a general all purpose rod. Stiff backbone and still fast enough tip that I can throw 4" swimbaits with a 1/8 oz hook without any problem.

If decide you don't like the rod, I almost guarantee you can sell it here or eBay and break about even.

I bought one of the Tec Spec's when they first came out. The new Tec Spec Elite is a very nice looking rod. I like the color. Dick's Sporting Goods also carries the Amps. If considering a rod in the Tec Spec Elite price range, then while checking out the Berkley Lightning rods at Walmart you might want to also look at the Daiwa Jutiper rods. The Daiwa T rods are basically the same price from TW as are the Powell Diesel rods. I like my Jupiter MH just fine. The fact that its warranty isn't as long as for a T rod doesn't bother me. I will say I like the color scheme of the T rod better.

EDIT: I'd make one of the rods a MH Fast. A couple of mine are rated from 1/4-1 oz. I consider these fine all-around rods. Some MH rods top out at 3/4 oz.

Same here on the Clarus, I have the 7'2 MH/F and have broken it once but it was my fault. Smacked it real hard against the rocks while landing a fish. The warranty is awesome, no questions asked they simply hand over a new rod and your on your way. The rods are built well, I had my previous one for three years of consistent use. If you are looking for an everything rod, I have been extremely happy with my Lamiglas Norwest Special, it's 8'6 medium action. Plenty sensitive for panfish, use it a lot for bass, trout, and if I wanted to surf fishing. Just a great rod in my opinion.

I have a couple of the Tec Spec rods and they are great rods for the price and I actually caught them both on sale for $49 with either the $10 off coupon or the in store $10 off sale. I have the 7' MH/F Tub/Jig spinning rod which I toss everything except crankbaits on this rod. It has been my go to rod for all types of plastics both weightless and weighted. I have also used the rod to toss larger topwater lures with great results as well, The rod has plenty of backbone and is very sensitive with either braid, mono or flouro. I also have the 7'6" MH/EF Telescopic flipping rod which is great as well with both enough length and backbone to handle just about any cover you run into. Its rated for 1/4 to 1 oz so it can handle most any lure with ease.

True. Not all rod listings are written in stone, but some are pretty darn close to what should actually be used. All my Falcon Mediums have a 1/2 oz. rating on the high side. I was puling a 1/2 oz. spinnerbait upstream with my 7' Expert and felt it was a bit too much for the rod. Of course since then a posting in another thread listed actual weights of a few spinnerbaits, so the 1/2 oz. lure was probably at least another 1/8 oz heavier. Plus I was pulling it up against the current. Can't check out a heavier lure with that particular rod because I fell face first into a rock pile and broke it. I do however have 3 other Medium Falcons I could try some heavier weights on. So far 3/4 oz is the heaviest lure I own.
