Do most people prefer 7 foot rods to 6'6 foot ? Which are better ?

The smaller the rod the more accurate while longer rods cast farther I like the 7 foot

For me it depends on what im doing, if im on a boat, i like a longer rod, when im hiking through the woods, i like a shorter rod. If im fishing from shore, a 6'6 is great for most things, the 7' is better when i wanna use frogs, and a 6'3 is better for me when i wanna use jerk baits.

In general shorter is better for accuracy and longer adds casting distance. The difference between 6'6" and 7' rod for a general purpose rod is personal preference. For technique specific rods length is probably a little more critical. What are you doing with the rod in this case?

I mostly use 6'6" and 6'9" from my kayak and 7'0 and longer when fishing from my boat. Trying to untangle line from the tip of your rod in a kayak is pretty rough with a 7 foot rod, your reel ends up in the water... plus in a kayak getting close to the fish isn't a problem so I rely more on accurate casts.

just fishing frogs, worms, crankbaits and jigs. I use my bass pro qualifier and jimi morrison rod for everything. Its 6'6 MH and everyone around uses 7 foot and ive been wondering what the big difference is in them. I have caught fish on all those baits with it too.

I like longer rods 7'6"-8' but if there is a deal to be had dont mind going shorter just got 6'9" rod and like it.

I like 7 foot rods for most things. I bought a 6'6 vendetta, and I'm seriously thinking about swapping it out for a 7 because it just feels weird to me.

To me it's personal preference. I have a lot of each and really don't notice a lot of difference between a 6'6" and 7'. If I'm casting I usually go longer and if I'm pitching I usually go shorter.

x2. its more about location for me. if i'm deep in the woods or in my kayak/canoe i like shorter 6 6" rods b/c they are easier to manage. and i can cast them darn near as far as my longer 7'6" rods.

i like 7' but most of the time i am wade/ bank fishing tight to the shoreline and a 6'6" or 6' is ideal when you need to duck under trees and cast into tight spaces.

All my rods are in the 6'9" to 7' range, but like most folks said...its personal preference.

For frogs I would not go less than a 7' MH rod, I use a 7'6" H for frogs and would never go back to anything shorter. I find this works great for worms as well.

Forgive me, everyone, for the heresy I'm about to opine. Unless I'm fishing deep water (20+) where hooksets are an issue, 6'6" is the longest rod I like. I actually prefer 6 footers for most of my fishing. I enjoy my casting and retrieving better with a shorter rod, which is lighter, more effortless. My casting is more intuitive with a 6' than a 6'6" or 7' I also seem to catch more fish on my small finesse baits on a short rod, which I think is because with the shorter rod I move the bait less with the rod, and it has a more subtle movement in the water. I make more, shorter casts, so I hit more targets, and I have better feel of my bait with less line out. Bottom line, my enjoyment level goes up when I use a short rod. YMMV.
