I am looking for a new spinning rod and I really like the Avid 7' medium power rod with a fast action. I was wondering how anyone feels about this rod. I am planning on using it primarily for senkos.

I had it............key word..........had. I like St Croixs, but this rod didn't do it for me. I like the 6'8" MXF better. The 7' M I had was an Avid, the 6'8" I have is a Mojo, but they make he 6'8" M/XF in just about every line.

Avid's are a fine series of rods. Will work great. Me personally i would prefer the 68Mxf or 69mlxf but the 7mf will work just fine as well.

I use an Avid 6'8" spinning rod for senkos and flukes and love it. I have a Avid 7' M and it's a good rod but I like the XF fast better for twitching.

The Avids seem to have a real different power to them than most rods of the same rating, Id suggest seeing if you can fish one before you buy one. BUT... they are really nice rods

Same here I have 2 Avids 7' MH/F and M/F casting rods, and recently bought Spinning Avid 6'8'' M/XF for senkos (wacky)...v. happy :)

I agree with the above. The 6'8" MXF is a great senko rod. It's also my go-to tube rod.

That is exactly what I find too. St Croix's tend to be over powered to start with. But for some reason the Avids are even more so. I have a 7' MH/fast Avid, and a 7' MH/Fast Legend tournamnet, and the Avid is the stiffer, more powerfull rod of the two. That is one of the reasons I tend to either go up to Legend Tournaments, or down to Mojos, I just don't like the stiffness and "extra" power of Avids. I have two Avids left, the 7 MH/F, and a 7' ML/F spinning rod, both are on the chopping block to be replaced with something else, hopefully Legend Tournaments.

I think that I'll probably end up going with the 6'8" medium power rod since many of you suggested that it would be a better choice. Thanks for the help.

x3 I own this rod and use it for a vast majority of my finesse fishing. I love it, paired with braid the sensitivity is amazing. You'll be very happy with this rod.

I just got a 6'9"MLXF Legend Tournament had it out with senkos and so far extremely pleased with it. My favorite rod is Avid 8' ML Moderate rod. I always wanted a bit more backbone though but keep the soft tip the XF gave me just those attributes. The soft tip you can better feel pressure change of the senko as it gets taken. Too the give lets the fish swim a bit without undue resistance I feel this lets it keep the senko a bit longer instead of maybe spitting it out. I can still feel the tap tap bites but its the light pressure bites that is missed with my MF rods. The wiggle of the senko to me is more noticeable with the softer tip of XF and Moderate actions.

The M vs ML power well thats up to you. I like/use ML cause lake has nearly 0 limbs, trees, structure to worry about just weeds. The fight is better with the fish I catch (not big size).and get a bit less rod weight.
