Zoff Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 You did some serious leg work NF. I will call you later this evening. Just so everybody knows.... We have asked and are going to ask for donations from fishing manufacturers, distributors, and merchants. So far we have a small amount of items that will be given away in a drawing or three depending on how much stuff we can get. We also will make this an informal tourney for bragging rights... big bass... best 5... smallest (lol)... just for some fun. We will fish for a bit then break for lunch. Nitrofreak said there is a reasonably priced restaurant on the lake then we can get together for supper at the end. A cookout maybe????? Does anybody have any input or ideas? I can say that no matter how many sign up... I will be there and fish with whoever shows. Hope we get a bunch. Quote
chrisdm3 Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 All of that sounds good to me and is half of gas and the launch fee good enough for a non boater to give to the boater Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted August 23, 2012 Author Super User Posted August 23, 2012 All of that sounds good to me and is half of gas and the launch fee good enough for a non boater to give to the boater It is a good question, half of the launch fee would only be 2 bucks, the parking permit for those who are coming is 5 bucks for all vehicles and the launch fee for the boat is 4 bucks, so 9 dollars total for the boats, we already have to pay to get in to fish so the 5 dollar parking pass will have to be paid by all and should not be concidered as half of the launch fee. I feel we should leave that up to the boater for them to decide, so be prepaired to pay if they wish for half of the cost of fuel, it's only fair, as for me, I simply want you non boaters to have a shot at fishing for a day on a boat, a day of fun, a chance to learn, and if we can learn something from each other even better. We are looking into a big cookout at the end of the day, just some burgers and dogs kind of thing, so that the family does not get left out of the equasion if they choose to participate. If we do, what is everyones thoughts on something of that nature, we would ask for 5 bucks from each to chip in and bring a covered dish if you can. Quote

Same here.We know that times can be tough for all of us. Some of us will have to drive/haul a boat 3+ hours and find a place to stay. Can get into a few $$$. Based on that, we are trying to keep the cost down. Main two reasons for the cookout... 1: Relatively cheap. 2: Better way to fellowship (less formal and can move around). Any Non-Boater living in my AO (hokiebass804 has already claimed a seat if he can make it) can hitch a ride with me. As for the Boater/Non-Boater costs... That will be between them. We are not going to say "YOU SHALL..." or "YOU SHALL NOT...". I would advise being prepared to cover some costs. Personally... I do not expect the repay. If whoever I am paired with wants to... I will accept with no argument or questions. Mainly because my best friend pays me but that was after me refusing umpteen times and he finally told me it was insulting. My whole logic in that is I am going fishing if you are with me or not so it costs me the same either way. If I ask you to go with me then paying me is way, way out of the question. I invited you. If you ask me, "Please take me to Lake Gottawetaline" then I am more open to the $$$. My choosing to come to the Meet & Greet is paramount to asking the Non-Boater if they want to fish with me, not them asking for me to take them, as I am well aware that I will have someone fishing with me and I will be fishing no matter what. That being said... we planned on not drawing partners until that morning. A surprise sorta. This conversation got me to thinking "Is there going to be a problem not knowing who your partner is in advance?" Not that there is a serious problem but there were two questions that came to mind... Do we have the random drawing before the M&G so the Boater and Non-Boater can work out the $$$ before hand or do you just take your chances? Is there anyone you do not want to fish with? Question 1 needs no explanation as we all have been stiffed when we figure we'd get something. So... tell me what you want here. Question 2 is also simple. I have not met anyone here yet that I would absolutely not fish with but I have met elsewhere that I will never have that person on my boat again. An example... I had this one guy on my boat that is a bit overgrown and clumsy. I didn't know about the clumsy until he got on the boat. Well, clumsy is not the right word but he does not and never will get sea legs. I have never had someone make me feel as if they were going to flip a bass boat but he did. He'd move and the boat would nearly dip the gunwale in the water. Not because of his size but because he'd nearly fall over EVERY time. He'd cast over my line. Didn't understand any boat etiquette. I constantly had to wait for him to retrieve so I could cast. Broke one of my rods and one of my reels by stepping on them, not once, but twice. Never offered to pay for the damage... (OK. I was ranting) Needless to say, he won't go with me again. If there is anyone you see on the list that you absolutely WON'T fish with... shoot me or Nitrofreak a message and we will make sure you will not be paired together. Does that about cover it? Quote
Traveler2586 Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Can we get some idea of who is planing on attending on Saturday, who will be there on Sunday, who is a boater, and who is a non-boater? If someone hasn't already started one, I can do a spreadsheet if everyone sends me a PM with their info, i.e. Name Cell Phone Boat yes/no Sat yes/no Sun yes/no I will be there Sat & Sun with a Ranger 185 VS. As of now I have a seat available for both days. As for helping for expenses, I do not expect anything, I'll trade the enjoyment of meeting a new friend for the fuel & oil. But maybe a word of caution (with the above post in mind) - you break it, you've bought it. Nitro, Zoff, others, just let me know what I can do to help with the cook out, i.e. $$$, labor, bring something (what), etc. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted August 23, 2012 Author Super User Posted August 23, 2012 Traveler, We are waiting to see how many are interested, as far as the cookout is concerned, even if we get no more people you are more than welcome to join us at our camper for dinner, if you feel you must bring something, I will see what is on the menu and get back to you, how "dat" be? There is a sheet on another post Zoff has started we have 4 boats and two 2 non boaters as of now, it is under " who is coming to lake anna va.? " However I did not see you listed for some reason, I will contact Zoff and have him add you in. As for the ride you are offering, it is very kind of you to do so and your support has been awesome !!! thank you very very much !!! As for the rest of you guy's there has been 573 views on this meet and greet...573? and only 6 people want to participate with 2 others that are working hard on trying to attend. looks like only a few of us are going to have all the fun the way it is right now, I know there are more boaters and non boaters out there so where is everybody?
