Super User rockchalk06 Posted August 14, 2012 Super User Posted August 14, 2012 What do you guys use to ship them. 1 piece 6-7 foot rods. I have a couple and can't find tubes long enough that don't cost 20 bucks. Thanks Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted August 14, 2012 Super User Posted August 14, 2012 Try a couple of wrapping paper tubes. Quote
shootermcbob Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I use either cardboard rod tubes from ***, cabelas, bass pro, etc or I ship in pvc tubing(sp)?. No matter how you ship, I would recommend purchasing insurance. I have had two heavy duty cardboard rod tubes broken ...with rod broken inside. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted August 15, 2012 Super User Posted August 15, 2012 A 10 ft PVC tube cost me about 8 bucks. Just wrap the tip in bubble wrap or a lot of crumpled newspaper, some tape, and your good to go. Actually shipping via USPS cost me around 15$ for 8 foot tubing, less for 7 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 15, 2012 Global Moderator Posted August 15, 2012 PVC tube from the hardware store, rod wrapped as BC said. Quote
Super User rockchalk06 Posted August 15, 2012 Author Super User Posted August 15, 2012 Thanks alot guys. I will do that. I know where I can get a pot load of PVC for next to nothing. THanks again Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 You can save a few bucks and some weight if you can find vacuum tubing or conduit instead of the schedule 40 pvc. Either way pvc is the way to go. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted August 15, 2012 Super User Posted August 15, 2012 Foam pipe insulation works nicely for wrapping the rod. Cut a piece long enough to cover the rear grip, another to cover the reel seat, another to cover the tip and and extra piece or two to support the middle of the rod. You can buy enough to ship several rods for less than five bucks. Quote

Thanks These can be tough to come by. I've gotten some from carpet shops and from Lowe's in the flooring section...Also, I've had luck with Dicks and a local tackle shop here...however, it's luck of the draw with these things. I've been keeping all of mine from TW and Bass Pro so I have a nice collection for now. Good luck! Quote
