Had a long day of fishing today my father in law had won a half day boat rental so my nephew and I went out at 8am till 1pm and had almost no luck. Ryan had caught one early on with a deep diving crank skimming tops of submerged grass with a -15 crank. That was the only keeper fish for that whole trip I caught one at the end on a drop shot my first drop shot fish ever a 6" SMB.

After that trip we went back ate some lunch shot some ground hogs packed up again and went to our honey hole with the canoe. We started off slow but noticed the water level was up about a foot from 2 days ago when we were out. I caught the first fish actually the first 6 fish. First one came on a spinner after bumping it off a tree that fell in the water it was a easy 2#. Maybe an hour later I got my second fish on the same spinner a solid 5# also from bumping the spinner off a piece of wood. By this point I thought I figured out the pattern that they were holding tight to wood cover and were reaction bites after bouncing some thing off the wood.

Well we went 2 hours with out a bite not even nibbles so much for my pattern. Finally Ryan had one on it was HUGE woulda blown both of out PB's out of the water. However he was out gunned so to speak. He only has 2 combos 1 spinning 1 baitcasting. Well this fish came on a jig and took him for a ride after giving us a little glimpse. Soon as it came to the top he seen the canoe and before we knew it Ryan's drag was screaming on his walmart special Pinnacle and 12# Trilene XL on a Berkley shock 6'6" M rod. This fish took him down into some stumps and branches and locked him up. We tried digging the fish out for 10 minutes from every angle not a budge ended up cutting the line.

After the heart break Ryan was still at a big fat 0 and I only had 2. maybe 45 Minutes went by and then I had another solid 4# chunk of a bass. That one opened the door for me and I realized they wanted a slow finesse presentation. I tied on a new jig a Terminator Tiny-T jig in black and blue with a Rage baby craw in summer craw and started tossing it to every stump and branch I could find I caught another quick 6 bass smallest one was maybe 3#. At this time Ryan was ready to call it quits so I gave him a shaky head worm sense he was out at that's his go to lure and first cast he got a nice 3#.

We caught a bunch off a stretch of bank on the finesse jig and shaky head and then started to head in. We got to the little feeder stream that was in the picture from my other thread and I decided on more cast with the frog I really wanted to get a frog fish before I went back to Kuwait. Made my cast and Ryan asked me if I seen "that" shortly after my frog touched down. I didn't see what he was talking about but he had seen a bulge of water charging my frog in the foot of water covered in duck weed. The fish smacked my frog and missed we both knew this was another big fish. I left my white scum frog right where the miss was I didn't try for another cast gave it a good 30 seconds that felt like 30 minutes, first twitch after the pause and bam fish on I ended up ripping her right in. The pic doesn't do this gal justice it was dark and Ryan was using his flash for a flashlight well I tried to get my frog back she had it all the way down about to go in her stomach both hooks I got it out and was afraid I had killed her. Her mouth was so big I had my whole hand in its mouth and was able to unsnap my dual lock snap and take apart the frog and had room to move and work in there. I put her back in and held on to nurse her back and soon as she touched the water she thrashed and took off like a bat outa hell.

We ended finishing the day with my best 5 fish a touch over 20# id say 20-22# Ryan's best 3 all he caught went maybe 9# heres some pics of ones I took pics of most I just release quickly cause Ryan was getting a lot of bites and I had to stay on top which I did lol. Like I said the one pic doesnt do that last girl justice she was a brute.
