Sniffles Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 So sunday started off like any other day of fishing for me and my fellow kayak anglers. 5-am. Up and out of bed. headed out to the garage by 5:30. My neighbor Joe was outside waiting on me. Allen showed up shortly after. Then we were off to the creek! The morning started out slow with each of us only having caught a fish a peice. Due to this low biting morning we decided to try out a lake that sat next to the creek. We got out, and after a quick haul through the woods were getting back into the lake. Joe decided to try out the far side of the lake while we stayed behind not wanting to risk passing up a big one. 20 minutes later, I hear splashing. Something big. then a few seconds later I hear the unmistakable girly death scream coming from accross the lake " TYLER, ALLEN, HEEEEEEEEEEELPP!!!" As soon as I looked back I saw what I thought was a massive Trophy bass jumping out of the water OVER joes boat, We immediately pulled in our lines and high tailed it to joe. When we arrived I realized very fast this was no bass. and after seeing the teeth on this monster there was no way any of us were trying to lip this fish to get it out. after a few moments of contemplation Allen reachs for the fish grabbing it right behind the head and gills. He raises his arm out of the water to show only half the fish. Immediately the fish bites down breaking the line, followed by vilent thrashing. Breaking joes grip and plunging back into the lake. Without any hesitation ( or thought) Allen dove for the fish, capsizing his kayak with all his gear. ( he does not secure his gear to the boat). my first thought was please let him come back up. The water is deep and I really didnt want to jump in after him. seconds later he pops out of the water. With the look of a toddler being submerged under water for the first time. and screaming frantically. His first instinct was to grab the side of my boat. Which after taking on a gallon of water I quickly corrected him on. 10 seconds later joes gets Allens yak flipped back over. but with too much water to also carry a person. So we get allen to hold the front of joes boat. Then he asks the question that changed my day. " But what do I do with the fish?!" me and joe had the same reaction. " You caught that fu**ing fish?!" and he raises his other arm from the water. Monster in hand. Thanks to joes quick thinking he throws the fish in his flooded kayak and swims to shore. while me and Joe rounded up as much of his gear as we possibly could. We got the fish out and realize he had landed a nice size Musky. Crying, laughing, and pictures insued shortly after. Quote

Sniffles Posted August 13, 2012 Author Posted August 13, 2012 He actually dove under the water and grabbed a freed muskie before it could swim away? Never heard anything like it. Yes he did. He is officially the craziest man I know. I dont think he thought about what he was doing, it was more of desperation. luckily he didnt grab it by the mouth, considering it was out of sight and the water there is very murky. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 14, 2012 Global Moderator Posted August 14, 2012 I can't hardly keep ahold of a muskie in the boat, no way I could grab one underwater that didn't have it's movement restricted in anyway like that, crazy. Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted August 14, 2012 Super User Posted August 14, 2012 Nice fish man great story Quote
