May be looking into purchasing a rig in the near future. Just seeing who has used what and if they would have any advice on what has worked or hasn't worked for them. Thanks.

If you want to mess around with one I would suggest making a few and seeing if your into em. you can make one for pocket change

Dont listen to some who say this rig doesnt work...I promise you I have had days that the A-Rig absolute murdered the fish! Im pretty sure Paul Elias had one or two days like that too. I caught over 300 fish in a evening on the A-Rig. I buy the Venom lures model for tournaments and the BOSS compact for just messing around. I use RI Little Dippers for the baits on 1/8oz jigheads.

I don't fish A-Rig myself because it's not legal in WI where I fish mostly....but from what I've read and knowledge I have gathered, it sounds like it's a hot item to throw in the fall when shad start to school up tight and the bass start to feed really heavy. So that time is approaching fast. You should try it out if you can throw it legally in your state. It's not legal everywhere so make sure you check your rules/regulations. I'm not familiar with OH laws.

Just like everything in this sport, there are days when if you find the right depth, the right speed you can catch them and there are days you can´t catch a cold with it, the only way is you get one and try it. There´s no such thing as magic lures.

Mark, the rig is legal in WI. You can use a 5 arm rig and only use three hooks on it and put blades on the other two arms, or rig up dummy swimbaits w hitchhiker screws w no hooks and rig those on the remaining two arms...or simply buy a three arm A Rig and not worry about it

Hey UW, yeah I knew you can do the modified A-Rigs. I was just speaking on the true 5 hook A-rig. I was actually going to try out the 3 bait rig this fall if I get around to it.

Are you throwing it up in Vilas? How's it been going for you if so? I haven't fished up that way for a few years. Palmer, T-foot, Big St Germaine, Lilttle St Germaine are the lakes I've fished up there.

In MO we have a 3 bait reg also. I use 3 swimbaits or grubs and 2 small willow leaf blades. It worked quite well this spring but died this summer. I'm looking forward to it getting hot this fall.

Here is a homemade one that I have rigged for white bass and crappie.

I have used one. It looked awesome in the water but I didnt catch anything. Also felt a little ridiculous with it tied on. They are popular in saltwater around here for trolling but I would rather not use them for bass, there are just too many other good lures that will work.

Something you might want to try is the yum double rig. Its just a 2 arm rig that allows you to throw 2 lures. I have caught fish with this rig with 2 smaller swim baits attached. I dont use it so much anymore but its a nice in between if you wanted to try an umbrella rig but didnt want to go all out.
