Bluecraw Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Just going through my tackle and wondering who else is obsessed. I have, at least, two of every piece of tackle that has caught me a bass. For cranks, I have two of the same color and diving depth of almost every one. Same with spinners. I have two of the same weight and color of each jig. I guess I'm afraid that if I'm cleanin'-up on one particular bait and lose it or mess it up, I can get back in the game with one that is exactly the same. Worms and soft plastics go without saying...I mean they come in bundles. Please tell me you guys are as obessed as I am with your tackle!! I mean, I have like six jitterbugs!! If it's possible to have too much of one thing, what tackle do you have too much of? Quote
Gotta Love It Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I have atleast 75 (maybe more) of the Stanley wedge spinnerbaits... I think they are 1/8 oz. They were my goto bait for 2 years and I was afraid they would stop making them (I think I suffer from OCD)... I also have a few baby 1-, husky jerks, shad raps and Snagless Sally's. Quote
RottManK9 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 You can only have too much if it doesn't produce for you. If it's a producer.....it's all BACK UP in case you loose one! ;D Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I keep multiples of my favorites. I have a hard time finding Mepps Fury spinners in size 3, so I buy all of them when I find them. I go through three or four a season. My wife keeps wondering why I have a dozen and a half unopened spinners... Quote
bassin_man Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 For all my favorite and go to baits I keep at least 2 and sometimes 3 on hand. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted March 10, 2007 Super User Posted March 10, 2007 I buy 5 at a time of lures that work. If More ara available I wll get what they have. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 10, 2007 Super User Posted March 10, 2007 I buy every single colorado blade Strike King 3/8 oz. spinnerbait I find in one certain color. Doesn't matter if the store has just one or 15 of them. I buy them all. That color has caught me a ton of fish over the last three years. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 10, 2007 Super User Posted March 10, 2007 I have multipal numbers of every lure I own. Darn Bait-Monkey !!!!! Quote
Fishing Doug Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Yep, I do the same thing. Baits that work for me and that I use, I have at least 2 of each-and take them with me every time out. Nothing more depressing than being on a good bite with one of your favorite baits but then losing it in cover or something and not having another to tie on....... Quote
sal669 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Where I wet my line we have this toothy critters called pike and musky. I usually buy 1pc of a new bait in different sizes, diving depth, etc and if it tests out OK(= fish catcher) I realy stock up on them. There are days when I'm loosing 3-4 baits to the chompers >, because most of the time pike grabs the bait at the head and cuts my line. Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted March 10, 2007 Super User Posted March 10, 2007 I don't have duplicates for all my baits, however my "special" go-to cranks and jerks have duplicates and in some cases tripled. Falcon Quote
Super User Raul Posted March 10, 2007 Super User Posted March 10, 2007 I mean, I have like six jitterbugs!! Why so few ? :-? Oh well, I think that answers the question : Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I mean, I have like six jitterbugs!! Why so few ? :-? Oh well, I think that answers the question : Raul one day when you realize you have way to much tackle and are willing to sell some, im asking you to please PM me first and wait for me to get back to you before you post. 8-) lol Quote
Brad_Coovert Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Remember - There is no such thing as too much tackle. All of my productive baits have backups, some have second backups and there are always thrid, fourth, fifth....backups in the closet. If I go through those, I will raid my inventory if I have them there. In fact, there are a few certain crankbaits I have that I may carry 6 of in the boat and another 6 in the truck or hotel room. Some guys in the club treat me like a floating bait shop during tournaments if the y lose a bait. They come look for me. Of course, the price of tackle goes way up on the water. 8-) Brad Quote
Pa Angler Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I d0, And sometimes 3 or 4 the monkey gets it's hands on my wallet as well. Quote
skillet Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 There hasn't been a bait made that I can't lose. Today I went to a pond near my house and it had started covering over with that green (for lack of a better word ) snot looking stuff. It does it every year and I break out the hollow bodied frog and have a ball. I hung it up and lost it :'( it was the only one I had :'( and I live like 9 mi. from Wal-Mart :'(. Hope this helps you decide when too much is too much..... As Ever, Skillet Quote
Super User cart7t Posted March 11, 2007 Super User Posted March 11, 2007 I spend a lot of time on Ebay in the wiggle wart section along with searching the forums for specific original WW colors. If you look around and wait you can occasionally get the good ones for around $8-10 apiece. Quote
