I just bought a Mojo Bass, the topwater version, and it is 6 foot 6 inches. I need a decent spinning reel that will last me a long time, has a good amount of bearings, and isnt to pricey. On this rod I also throw small crank baits, and senkos. Thank you in advance

If you have the 6'6" Mojo "Topwater" rod....that is a casting rod, not spinning.

Pfluegar President or Shimano Sahara get my vote. The Sahara is on sale right now a lot of places too.

Good call, I have that rod as well. The shortest spinning rod they offer is a 6' 8" "Wacky Style" spinning rod. If it's a casting rod you most definitaly don't want a spinning reel!

i don't recommend the pfluger president. the reel feels cheap and the reel had the worst line lay i have ever seen (line gathering towards bottom of the spool). maybe i got a defective one but from now i am only fishing shimano.

i highly recommend shimano. i have been using them since i first started bass fishing and have had no problem at all. what is your budget? the sedona, sahara, and symetre (my favorite low end shimano) are all good reels.

If i were you i would recommend a stradic if you can afford it. you won't regret it.

How long have you been Bass fishing, and how many reels have you owned? The President is one of the finest reels in their price range, and higher, and are in NO way cheap feeling or looking. They are super smooth, and cast like a dream. Why would you put a Stradic on a $99.00 rod?

The Symetre is the reel that made me quit using Shimano products lol. I know Shimano makes some good reels but nothing under 100 bucks is worth buying, the Pflueger President is a good reel in fact I would rate that higher than the Symetre just because of the reliability. Take a look at Cabelas, when they run sales they often have the old model Tournament ZX spinning reels and they usually sell for 40 bucks but originally 70. What makes those good is they are basically a Diawa Tierra, they have the Hard bodyz aluminum body and rotor which you very seldom see for less than 80 dollars, and the drag is flawless, the difference between the Tierra and the ZX is Diawa puts 2 corrosion resistant ball bearings in the Tierra while they use all regular ball bearings in the ZX but the bearing count and everything else is the same. I almost forgot, the knob is different on the ZX, it has the power T handle knob with the Diawa logo in the center while the Tierra has the standard knob. That reel is the best bang for the buck, keep an eye out.

Sorry guys it is the 6'8", "Wacky Style" but I've been told the President is a good reel and it looks like I may be going its way.

I happen to have that exact rod my friend. Good choice.

Dicks Sporting Goods and Cabelas both currently have their Shimano Sahara 2500 FD's on sale for around 50.00. It's a nice reel, normally around 85.00. The ones at Dicks are in their clearance section on the website. Ask them to order it in store for you or get one from Cabelas. I promise you, it's worth the wait if you have to order it.

With the sales for the Sahara at $50.00, thats a deal that would be very hard to pass up if you get the Sahara go with 2500 or 3000 size, you will be happy with this reel, the pfluger is nice but at 50 bucks this is a steel!

i have owned probably over 50 reels. maybe i got a dud reel. just did not like the feel of it and the line lay on the reel was terrible both braid and mono. the line created a "cone" shape on the reel where most of the line gathered towards the bottomg of the spool. i know how to properly spool a reel too.everyone prefers something different. i am not here to argue which one is better i am just stating my opinion. as far as putting a stradic on a $99 rod. you let the price of a rod dictate what type of reel you put on your rods? i own some rods that are $50 and find them better then my higher end st croix rods.

I would say you should have had someone look at it or taken it back. A lot of Stradics can do that, reason for the package of shims sold with them. I am not familiar with how pfluger manages there spool location, as I have found the Symetre's, Stradic's, and Sustain's, take care of all my spinning needs as well as can be taken care of, but if pfluger uses the shims taking a few out would have cured the spooling problem, or had it replaced where you bought it. Unless it came used and that would explain why someone sold it after they screwed it up.

I own a G. Loomis IMX and over a dozen and a half, TOP END St. Croix's, which are "in my opinion better than the IMX, I find it hard to believe they make a better $50.00 rod than the top end Croix's, maybe you are using the wrong rod's for the job, all I can think of??

pflueger does not have the spool washers like the shimanos have. i have returned the president and got my full money back and put that money towards a new shimano. i repeat myself once again, you may think a TOP END st croix is better then a $50 rod and some may not. it is all personal preference IMO. by stating you find it hard to believe a $50 rod is better then your "top end" st croix is your opinion and what works for some may not work for others.

Pflueger president XT. It is aluminum bodied, silky smooth, and best of all the reel color is actually complimentary to the rod. That is what I used on my Mojo. You might be able to talk me into selling it to you since I no longer have the Mojo and the reel is just collecting dust ATM
