Anybody tried these reels out? I found a website selling the Husker reel for $69, and I was thinking about grabbing one up.

I can't say that I know anything about these reels, or Ardent in general, and I really haven't heard too much about these particular reels. I believe they were selling them for around $130 originally.

Any input? Worh $69?

I handled a C400 and did not care for it. It was pretty bulky feeling in my hands, and I have BIG hands. I just felt it was not that well made of a reel. I would check one out locally if at all possible before spending the money.

the military and college reels are made in China, they have them for the budget minded angler. They are not true Ardent reels.

I thought about getting one in KU blue to stir the pot while fishing here on OU country but the guys at Bass Pro said save your money or buy their cheap in house mega cast reel.

They are probably just like T. Martinez's performance on the field... They are good for the short run but when it comes to long distance it is something left to be desired :laugh5:

Wise words from a Hawkeye fan

Really? You remember these teams played last year, right?

Anyways, I was actually looking for feedback on a reel, not delusional Hawkeye fan speak.

Thanks for the info everybody else.

I have 2 of the KU reels. I bought them off their website for $69 each. They are NOT made in China, they are the C400 made in the USA. I have used mine a lot this year and caught lots of fish on them. My opinion is that they will cast light lures a long way but are not the smoothest reel on the market. They feel well built and I have no doubt they will last a long time. They are not as low profile as some other reels so if you palm a reel it will feel different until you get used to it. All in all I like mine considering what I paid for them. They have a 3 year warranty which is better than most companies. If you have any particular questions let me know.

Check again, the NCAA reel are Evercast product. They're not made by Ardent. They're made in China. They're a decent reel, but bulky, and not as smoothe as the genuine product. They're a pretty good buy for $69, however.

Hooligan, you need to go to ardentreels.com because because not all the NCAA reels are Evercast. Hence why he asked about the Ardent reel and not about the Evercast reel. YES the Ardent NCAA reels are the C400 and most definately are made in the USA.

Sorry, you're right. They did make the C400 in the collegiates- anything remaining would be a closeout. I was thinking current production.
