Daddyodo Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Ok, so, MCS got me to thinking about stuff I used to collect. When I was a kid I used to collect baseball, football, and hockey cards. I lived in Encino Calif when I was in the 3rd and 4th grade and we used to live next to a guy who was an animator at Hanna Barbara. He would bring home boxes of celluloids of cartoon characters that he would draw. We had hundreds of these things from Yogi Bear to the Pink Panther. My dad got sick of seeing these things all over the place so one day he up and........THREW THEM OUT I don't even want to think about how much those things would be worth today. I also had a stamp collection and actually had 2 first edition MAN ON THE MOON stamps. Dad got to those too. No he did not throw them away, he sold them to feed a gambling habit As I got older I collected beer cans, hats, and other stuff. What about you guys, what do you or did you collect? Quote
NoBassPro Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 A few old fishing lures. Really like the original Bombers, some of the Paw Paw stuff and a few older musky lures Quote

jslacker Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Shot glasses, 5950 hats, football cards, basketball cards, baseball cards, those stupid little Homies figures that came in those 50 cent egg balls.... Quote
kylek Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I use to collect golf balls from all the courses I played. I also got into collecting Scotty Cameron putters and the headcovers used with them. Some of those get into the $1000s. I never got that crazy but I did have some that were $500 or so. I normally had 10-15 in my home at one time. Ended up selling them when I lost interest in golf after having back surgery. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted August 11, 2012 Super User Posted August 11, 2012 I used to build model cars with my old man when I was growing up I have over 300 there all wrapped in newspaper and in storage now. I did the trading card thing as well still have all of them. At one point I was collecting bottles of every beer or liquor I had every drank one bottle of each I had a giant collection then my mom threw em all out when I moved out at 20........... Quote

Super User K_Mac Posted August 11, 2012 Super User Posted August 11, 2012 I used to travel on business a lot. While it was never my intent , I collected speeding tickets in a number of states-with some duplicates. I did get to attend driving school a couple of times over the years as a reward for my perseverance in collecting these little paper mementos. Quote

Super User MCS Posted August 11, 2012 Super User Posted August 11, 2012 I used to be a Porsche finatic since I was like 6 and saw my first one. I eventually got into my teenage yrs and became a fan of Le Mans series, World Rally and F1. I had a big Porsche paraphernalia collection. Mainly models, even their bicycle and tractor. Along with books, emblems, racing posters. I also got into collecting this German Beer hafferoder or hasseroder think there is two spellings or something anyway. I collected all their slot car models from every type of racing. Their logo was a grouse on a yellow car with red lettering. Still a fan of alms and f1 though don't get a chance to enjoy it much these days. Also did shot/bar glasses for a while of places traveled and brands drank. Still a sucker for a good gift pack at christmas time. Lol Quote

Good looking stuff right there..... Bulldog Brand and Kabar make some knives in the US. I also liked the knife works because of the exhibits they had, it was like a museum and a store. Quote

Stasher1 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I use to collect hot wheels cars. I probably have about 125 of those things stashed away somewhere. Started collecting when they first came out in the late 60's. I have a bunch of hot wheels, matchbox, etc., but mine are all Volkswagens. I've always had a thing for aircooled veedubs, so I've had some of these things since I was a little kid (30+ yrs in some cases). I've tapered off quite a bit over the past few years, but I still pick up new ones on occasion. I collected guns for a while, but it dawned on me that I had a ton of cash tied up in guns that I'd never use, so I've sold off all but a handful that either have sentimental value or get used/carried often.
