Some Help With A Cranking Rod Please

Ok, as I have been building my arsenal of baitcast equipment. I have begun my search for a rod to mate up with my latest reel purchase. From what ive been reading, ive seen alot of people pairing this reel I have purchased ( seen below ) with rods that are almost 8 ft long. 7"11 inches to be exact. Im assuming that they are using a rod this long due to the sensitivity of the tip.? So far ive read that to firm of a rod at the tip will de crease hook set with crank baits. But then again I am very new to bass angling. So I was hoping for some advice in rod fitment for this application. Now..... Love em or hate em, I am an abu garcia kind a guy. So If it was a rod from them, I wouldnt mind. Honestly I like there price point. I havent tried the veritas rods yet but I know they offer them in some long sizes. I would sure appreciatte your help. Longer rods mean longer casts which in turn mean longer time in the strike zone. You can do fine with a 7' rod if you prefer that length. Check out the Winch line of the Veritas. I have only held them and I thought they were decent (I don't like the reel seat on them), but a lot of people give them good reviews. I would check out the Powell Max Crankbait line. There are a lot of good choices out there. Right now I use a 7' MH BPS Crankin Stick. I think I spent ~$60 on it on sale.

The Veritas Winch series are nice rods. I would also suggest looking into the Powell rods. They have a 705cb Glass Deisel for 69/99 and Max rods for 139.99.

I use an Avid AVC70MHM. I don't feel like I need another 11", though many swear it gives them extra distance. I'm not seeing it.

I use a 7'11" duckett crankin rod with a winch and i absolutely love it. I have a 7' cranking rod to but i think its more personal preference. I like the longer one better my self

Well you have never fished with me, I will out cast you with my 7'10" St Croix LTB Magnum Cranker 99 times out of 100, and I'll even use a 5/8oz. bait, you can have a heavier one. Stock Curado 201DPV too. Noel has the 7' MHM LT, and I can out cast him with a 5/8 oz SK 5xd, while he uses a 1oz SK 6xd. I use 20lb Power Pro, he uses 30lb. We have stood side by side on the deck of his boat and just "unloading" the rod I get mine further, not to mention when I really want to launch it.

Take a look at the Denali Jadewood cranking rods. I use the 7 ft. Med. and they also have a 7 ft. MH. For the cranking I do, a 7 ft. is all I need. The blanks are very small and lightweight. It is a heck of a rod for $99. Denali also has a 7'6" MH cranking rod in the Rosewood series if you're looking for something longer.
