bigdawg74 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 i am going to try power pro 20 or 30 after having some bad experiance with nanofil snaping a few times last weekend, why do i need or do i need to put a leader on? Quote

Super User deep Posted August 10, 2012 Super User Posted August 10, 2012 This is the way I look at it: Would a leader help? Maybe, probably- assuming I'm confident with the connecting knot. Would a leader hurt? I don't think so... So, I guess, I'd try a leader. Which is what I do a 100% of the time. 1 Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted August 10, 2012 Super User Posted August 10, 2012 With the exception of my trout rods, and my fishing-in-slop rod, all of my gear, both spinning and baitcasting, is equipped with 30# braid and a flouro leader. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 10, 2012 Super User Posted August 10, 2012 If for no other reason I use a leader so if by chance my line or leader gets tangled in the trebles, it's much easier to unravel. I use 15# braid on my spinning gear even for slop, I have 20# braid on my snakehead combo only because I'm using a saltwater spinning reel that was not being used and saw no reason to change the line. Super User BassinLou Posted August 10, 2012 Super User Posted August 10, 2012 This topic is being mentioned alot, awesome!! I am all in for a braid to fluro leader. Depending on application however. As far as what fluro i will recommend? This is where I will tell you experiment with a line that works for you and that your comfortable with. As you can see there are numerous brands that everyone swears by. Over the years, and with help of this forum I narrowed it down to two brands of fluro that I use and suit me for the type of fishing that I do. Quote
