jelly Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I am experiencing the same thing now, I have caught a Jaguar Gapote, 2 Peacocks, 1 Large Mouth. Yet, in the last 2 to 3 months, every time I go out, skunk city. I have tried crank baits, swim baits, live shiners, jerk baits, spinner baits, swim jigs - I see fish all of the time swimming but nothing hits my lures. Last week I saw tarpon rolling and mullet jumping -today nothing at all I fish the canal that run parallel to the turnpike 117 ave close to Bird Road in MIami, florida Any help would be great Quote
GaterB Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Go to walmart and pick up a pack of Strike King Shim E Stiks in baby bass color. That was the money lure for myself and those that I fished with last summer down in the FL canals. Fish it weightless and let it sink to the bottom on a semi slack line. If you don't get hit, pop it a couple times and let it sink again. Good luck! 1 Quote

You have to vary the speed and depth a bit to see what entices them. Stickworms and flukes will work too. Locate and work cover. During these bright days I like to fish cover the casts long shadows. I nailed a nice 5lbr last weekend by using the same tactics I just explained. 1 Quote
jelly Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Thanks for the tips - it has been really frustrating - Any specific color in spinner baits did you attach anything to the hook - grub? Quote

I use a different spinnerbait colors. What I throw strictly depends on water clarity and time of day. You want specifics, you can always drop me a PM. No I do not add trailers to my spinnerbaits, only trailer hooks if they are hitting short. Quote
jelly Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Thanks a million - I have tried spinner baits in the past - it has been a while wonder if I need to change location Quote
