Jig trailers

I know a lot of people use a jig & pig, What do you like to use as a jig trailer, and do you try to match the color of your jig to the color of your trailer?

Rage tail chunks and craws. Paca chunks and craws. Anything that looks cool even if you have to cut the tops to make it fit right. Sweet/tiny/big beaver, baby brush hogs, flappin hogs, etc.  The chunks and craws produce better for me so far though. I do try and match the colors.

I try to match the trailer with the jig. I don't know if it really matters or not, but I always do. When I buy a jig, I will buy a pack of something to use as trailers at the same time.

i like to use the net bait paca chumks and also some zoom trailers too, but as far as matching the trailer with the jig for the most part i try to but one exception would be when i throw a black and blue jig with a watermelon seed trailer, TRY it, its killer!!

I like the Netbait chunks,and the Baby Paca'a.And another that they have out is there 3in. twin tail grub,great on a Fin. jig. I also like 4 in lizards,grubs,and Fin. worms.Just a few that I like!

Darn near anything will work, and so will nothing at all at times. That said, I tend to stick with Paca Craws, Zoom super chunks and some custom hand pours.

On the 2nd ??, I prefer not to match. I like contrast more than color.

Strike King Rage Tail Craws, Lobsters, and Chunks.  Another one I use is Bass Snacks by Joe S. the chunks he makes are super soft and smell to high heavens.  Also his chunks float and that is always an added bonus when fishing a jig.

I always try to match the color of my jig trailer to the color of my jig as closely as possible.

Rage tail chunk is my favorite, I'm going to try twin tail grubs more and also tentacles from tubes....Got that idea from an article about a fishing trip with Mark Zona in Bassmaster.  Also going to try small swimbaits.  Have had success with matching and off colored trailers.

I try to match it more or less to the jig, I'm not super picky, but just so it is close.

My best jig is a brown and black with a brown zoom trailer.

I always match my trailer to the jig. I really don't know if it makes a difference, but I have more confidence in my lure that way, than I would if I didn't match. Also, I always use the 3" and 4" Berkley chigger craws. Once again, I have a ton of confidence in them, so why switch it up. I do keep things simple though by primarily using pumpkin/green fleck or just a green pumpkin jig/trailer in clear water and the black/blue fleck in murky water. Sometimes when the water is murky, I'll apply the "orange spike it dip 'n glow dye" to the legs of my green pumpkin craw, which has proven to work for me, especially in the early spring.

The comments so far are pretty well on for me.  Black/blue jigs get a black w. blue fleck trailer or an electric blue trailer.  Sometimes the fish are fickle and electric blue works better.  If the water is a bit clearer I like Brown Black jigs with a Watermelon trailer. Every brand mentioned works.  I use both Zoom and Yum for a low action trailer and when the water is 60 D or more move to the Rage craw or Rage chunk.  Twin tails go on finesse jigs like the Eakins jigs. If the water is below 52 D I will use an Uncle Josh jumbo pork frog.

I don't necessarily go for an exact match, but the trailer has got to "look right".  I don't know how to be any more precise than that.  I've messed around with different trailers quite a bit.  Currently I carry Paca Chunks a few different Zoom trailers and pork.

Rage tail craws, GYCB flappin hogs, and paca chunks. Also some zoom super chunks. I mix and match as far as color goes, try to match and also go for some contrast at times

I generally fish 3 inch chigger craws exclusively and match them as best as possible...I like the 3 inch size for a smaller profile...and for a bigger profile I have had success simply nose hooking the craw...the action actually improves this way as well because the bait has a little bit of freedom on the hook.

I try to match or compliment my jig color with Paca Chunks. Best bang for my buck as far as trailers go. Chigger Craws and SK Rage Tails are a little too bulky for my tastes as a trailer, but I'll fish them Texas-rigged by themselves.
