llPa1nll Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Well use my misfortune and take some time to check over your trailers. I was recently on vacation and had my trailer frame break. It was a rough launch but the problem was the rot on my painted steel trailer. I knew I had some rough spots on it and was going to take care of them in the fall. The spot that gave way was on the underside of a weld, where I didn't even know I had a problem. Well I was extremely lucky that this happened at the launch and not out on the highway. I relaunched the boat and borrowed a trailer from family member's marina. I am grateful that they helped me out. Those of you who have the older trailers that are just painted steel, please take some time in between trips and give them a once over. My boat is now on a rack waiting for a new trailer. Quote
