Super User South FLA Posted August 5, 2012 Super User Posted August 5, 2012 Went back out to the humps on Thursday butterfly jigging and absolutely wrecked the black-fin tuna, once we got back to the dock I was filleting them up and guess who came by for a circle hook/tuna skin snack? 1 Quote
Mad Fisherman Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 WOW! That look's like a hell of a lot of fun. I have went down to Key West twice and mostly caught snappers and needlefish. Would have loved to hook into a tarpon! Went to a thing where you bought a bucket of baitfish and stuck your hand above water or tossed them in and there were so many tarpon you could walk on them. I mean hundreds. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted August 5, 2012 Super User Posted August 5, 2012 Wow! looks like great fun! Jeff Quote

Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted August 5, 2012 Super User Posted August 5, 2012 Just another reason why I love living down here. Lol. Great fish, Robert. Looking forward to getting my boat back out next weekend. Probably going to spend some time chumming deep over the reefs chasing some good table sized yellowtail and kingfish. Oh, and if a sailfish or three wants to come play, they're more than welcome Quote

Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted August 5, 2012 Super User Posted August 5, 2012 Are you repowering it? Nah. Got the old 275 running good again. Took a bit of work, but I'm happy now. I really need to purge out some of the old fuel next. Spent the last week building new rod holders under the gunwale, fixing the transom door mounting, new fuel sending unit, etc etc. Nothing major, just time consuming. Just have some small stuff left. New anchor light bulbs and stuff like that. I'm ready to go full bore for the first week of lobster season. Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted August 5, 2012 Super User Posted August 5, 2012 Nice catches. Where you using the Haeg Handle? Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 6, 2012 Super User Posted August 6, 2012 Really nice tarpon ! I've caught 4 this past week, I target juvies with bucktails on mh spin tackle so mine are smaller. Our offshore fishing has been terrible out of the Boynton inlet Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted August 6, 2012 Super User Posted August 6, 2012 Robbie's right? I did that a few years ago. INSANE! Yep, Robbies. My buddy lost a few layers of knuckle skin because he was too dang slow on the release, haha. My $200 sunglasses fell of my head and got sucked up by about 150 pounder. And yes, I was UPSET. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted August 6, 2012 Author Super User Posted August 6, 2012 Nice catches. Where you using the Haeg Handle? Nope shimano Torium for tuna and penn bait-runner for tarpon Quote
