Feel Of Reel When Palming???

How many of you take into considerations how comfortable the reel is in hand , when mounted on a rod, while palming during casting, retrieving, and just fishing???

I have tried a lot of reels over the past few years, and it just feels to me like Shimano made the citica/curado 200E series for my hand...feels very natural, comfortable....all day long.

NOT trying to get into a brand war, just wondering if this is a consideration for anyone else?

It is for me and I agree about the 200E series. Others are just ok after fishing with those in terms of comfort. But i think they could have been smoother. And I havent compared them to a Lews yet either.

It's a HUGE consideration for me. Although most of my reels are 200 series or round, I prefer the 50 series.

I am on the other side of the fence on this one. I don't always palm my reels it just depends what I'm throwing and how .

My FAVORITE reel is this Core 50 but if I'm not palming it I find the bump on the back of it to dig in on me a little.

I LOVE this reel but I 'll have to say that bump was a poor design.

i palm my casting reels 100 percent of the time so it is a huge consideration for me. i agree the the shimano curado E-series are very comfortable, probably because they're so low profile. i've found most others not bad too with the exception of quantum reels...most of those have this weird bulge on the non-handle sideplate that just irritates the heck outta me.

Yes, has to feel good in the hand. I palm 100%, so its got to be a good feel. I like my 50E on a Vendetta, and my 200's on Sellus rods.

Absolutely, or all my reels would be Calcutta's, and why I like the Lew's, for finesse type baitcasting. I have big paws but the Lew's smaller frame's with plenty of line capacity is a perfect fit for my paw, I wrap my paw clear around the real for better feel, so exposed rod blank under the reel seat is important also, and the smoothness of the Lew's adds to the sensitivity I get with this type of reel. If I am crank'n or using the reel where sensitivity isn't as critical, I WILL be using my Calcutta's! love them bullet proof round reels!
