Tony Monticelli Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 20$ sounds a little cheap... even new at bass pro i really didnt find there prices to be bad for good looking fishfinders.... what are you looking for in a fishfinder? last i was there it even seemed the DI models have come down a bit or they came out with a few more economy models... i mean 400 500$ DI few bells and whistles included etc new in box etc to me sounds affordable ive spent more on reels and 200 300 gets you probably the best in standard image there is... For a used one, you should be looking for one that works and has all the parts. Some older ones don't have parts available any more such as the transducer and power cord. Quote
bigdawg74 Posted August 5, 2012 Author Posted August 5, 2012 been looking at the hummingbird portable 160. i just whant something for the canoe to help me out a bit. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 5, 2012 Super User Posted August 5, 2012 The Humminbird PiranhaMAX 160 is quite basic and is similar to the discontinued Eagle Cuda 300 in the same price range--but with a lower resolution display. Like most stuff, you get what you pay for. Any sonar unit is better than none at all. Quote
bigdawg74 Posted August 5, 2012 Author Posted August 5, 2012 it is for use on my small lake in a canoe for a few hours a week. so i am looking for something small and not too expensive Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 5, 2012 Super User Posted August 5, 2012 If you paddle your canoe, you may want a whole setup that includes power. http://store.humminbird.com/products/356812?product_id=9a227e41f7c7b06723b944d951b4293a There are versions like that one with more sofisticated units--refer to the Humminbird web site.
