DILLY07 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I was wondering that can I use a jig with tube connected or is that a dumb idea. Just a newbie question. If so I'm gonna buy some tubes lures. Thanks, Dilly Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted August 3, 2012 Super User Posted August 3, 2012 Use anything that might look appealing to bass I don't see why tube wouldn't work Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 3, 2012 Super User Posted August 3, 2012 In this month's issue of Bassin' there is an article on adding a worm to a tube. Not exactly what you are asking but close. Here are the details and results. Here is how it works? Take your favorite tube. Make a hole in it's front tip with a nail. Run your line through the hole and the tube's body. Run line through your bullet or needle nose weight. Wet weight and push it to the front of the tube. Dye tube's skirts in red JJs, let them dry and then separate the skirts if they stick together. You can do this first if you want. Take the line and add a large plastic or glass bead. Then tie your hook onto the line. Add your finesse or trick worm. Shove the big red bead into the back of the tube and tighten the line so the bead and hook eye is at the back of the tube. Does it work? Yep. On my first cast at a client's pond I caught a small one pounder. The second cast was a disaster as the line snapped and the crazy tube setup went flying into the wild blue younder and the middle of the pond. Totally my fault. The line was old and I was fishing for fun so I did not pay much attention to its condition. Jig and Tube? Will probably work. You can add the tube as a trailer or turn it around and make the jig the trailer. You may want to add the large bead if you make the jig the trailer. Or you can take the easy way out and just add the jig's skirt to the front of the jig setup to give it more skirt. if you don't scare the fish with the presentation they will probably hit it. So give it a shot and let us know what happens. Quote
flyeaglesfly5186 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Just get some tubes and tube jig heads. It's all I ever use, especially in the rivers. Quote
