Weedless Poppers?

Are there any weedless poppers on the market? I'm not talking about a Spro Popping Frog, but a true hardbody popper. If not I'll just try to modify my own. I have a few areas with light grass on top that I'd like to fish with something other than a frog.

As far as I have ever seen, all hard body poppers are fitted with treble hooks. I think the frog style poppers that are hollow or soft body is your best bet. I'd be curious to know if there is a hard body but I have yet to see anything like that.

I've always thought that the hard body baits, like a Spook, were meant to be presented on the outside edge of the weedline. Whereas the soft bodies were meant for more dense cover. Both seem to do very well in those situations. Never thought about a weedless hard body lure. Suppose you could add weedless hooks to a Spook. Just not so sure it would be of benefit.

I would like to know how a popper or chugger would move water while in weeds? A poppers use is in open water, maybe next to a weed line or sunken timber, but in weeds?

Use plastic, Texas rigged weightless. I have a pond that is covered with duckgrass I simply toss a 4in dinger from one end to another cranking fast sometimes the fish hit and I catch them, other times I cast to the hole they made and let the action of the bait do the rest.

PA, it's a light amount of grass across the top with open pockets scattered around. So a popper would still function and move water like it's supposed to. Just have to experiment, it's not limited to open water. Only concern are the treble hooks hanging down. Thought of a modification earlier to try that should be good, a popper is where it's at right now.

Actually... You can make one. I got a little creative a few years back and made one of mine own from a jitterbug and it worked great. You just need a bait with a screw in hook or whatever you want to call it in the tail. I know you said popper but if you can find one with the screw in the back like a jitterbug I don't see why it wouldn't work. I just unscrewed the hooks and cut the eye off of a straight shank hook and glued it in the tail part with jb weld. It worked awesome cause I could throw it anywhere and not just alone the edges. Well after looking on TW it seems as if only prop baits have the screw in the back. I suppose you could maybe heat up a hook and try sticking it in the end and seal it up with some glue. Who knows it might be the next best thing.
