I feel the same way.

I agree BAM all the way! Jam packed full of good, useful info that the others are lacking.

Bassmaster back in the 70's and early 80's was a great mag loaded with good articles, but IMO it's a rather boring read now a days. I canceled when they jacked the price from 15 to 25 bucks. It was once worth 25, but not so anymore IMO.

FLW is ok IMO. I do however wish they would stop using the word REVIEW on the cover for a review to me is taking a product out on the water and putting it threw its paces and then reporting on it in detail. What they do is list a few products and give a brief description and call that a review. Other then that, there are some good articles in the mag from time to time.

Another good one of which I have not seen in awhile is Bass West. I don’t live out west but the content is pretty good.

Being that I live in IL, I also like IL Game and Fish and also Midwest Outdoors. I admit I jump to the bass fishing articles and skip the rest, but for local bass fishing info there articles on such are pretty good. I believe they are available for other states also.

Over all in all honesty BAM is the only one I actually look forward to reading anymore. If Bassmaster ever gets back to its roots I will be all over that, but I won’t hold my breath.

Throw in this site and you got all the bass fishing info you will ever need! Well as long as you don’t pay any attention to the Quantum haters. LOL

A vote for bassin here. Bass master is kinda meh. Won't be renewing my subscription for that one. Will start one for bassin and BAM though.

I get Bassmaster, I like it. I would be interested in BAM but how big is a typical issue? (page count?) I only ask because its 4 issues a year. Just curious.

Too expensive. Besides, I can find out just about anything I need to know, right here.

Bassmaster

I second that vote.

Just my opinion on the worst two fishing magazines, they're Bassin' and Crappie World. Reading Crappie Magazine, I'm embarrassed for everyone involved in making it. It's just really bad. Bassin' isn't much better, seems like they are both about 80% advertisements and uninformative gear reviews. Best magazine I've ever read is Eastern Fly Fishing, which is very informative and has spectacular photos, without being too expensive like other fly fishing magazines (Fly Fishing Journal). I bought a few recent editions of Bassmaster, and thought it was pretty useless. While nice to sit and flip through, I think you can find much more info online.

I vote for Bassmaster even though I find it's occasionally uneven in quality. You get one issue that's fantastic and the next might be average.

I don't mind BAM but I have problems with its writing quality -- there an awfully large amount of spelling, grammatical and syntax errors in each issue for a professional magazine -- and the last issue really rubbed me the wrong way with articles that seemed more advertorials then reportage.

BAM and Bassmaster are the best IMO and both are worth the money. BAM is LOADED with info.... it is some serious reading.

I find both very informative and they both do it in different ways. Not sure why bassmaster gets knocked so hard on here. There feature with a pro on the lake going minute by minute through his day fishing is simply great and gives a unique insight that actually makes me think about how I am making choices on the water. The recent changes they made too only made it better.

A shout out to woods and waters.... a VA fishing and hunting monthly magazine..... it is really good for us VA guys.

Agreed. I think BM is the best of the ones I get, and I've gotten all of the major ones at one time or another. FLW can be good too, but they are often so crammed with tourney results/articles, which I generally don't care about, that they have no room for how-to articles.

BAM is far and away the best I've read. I subscribe to Bassmaster but only so I can be a BASS member; you hafta to fish a lot of tourneys.

If one of 'em ever runs an article on how to find fish with a (so called) "fish finder" I'll change my mind...

For me that alone is worth the price of Bassmaster. Being able to see those thought processes and what led to them is fantastic. And also seeing their mistakes makes me more conscious of my own.

JMO of course, but the best bass fishing magazine comes out once a year.....In-Fisherman's Bass Fishing Annual.....and if Steve Quinn writes most of the articles (like this year), it's that much better.
