well i caved in and re spooled back up with mire fluro now that i have the adjustments right were i needed them another $12 down the drain. was goign good perfect until the last cast. back spin backlash birds nest what ever the he** this is is a complete mess. settings are were they need to be never taken my thumb of spool everything is the way i was told to keep it. i need help on taken apart the reel i hope to god i can or i will probably throw the d**n thing in the trash. im using 15# berkley trilene 100% fluro. i just dont get it so smooth then last cast i wanted to get a little further towards the wall of lil'ys and boom i dont know what happend other then weres my senko look down and i start blacking out. i cant get the line off by cuttign and pullign its so screwed up is there anotehr way to take the reel apart and just slide the line off?

Stand over a garbage can with some scissors and get to work. I certainly wouldn't take it apart unless the line got between the spool and the body.

I just keep cutting. Most revos have a little button on the side. Push it, rotate the side plate, and it will come off. Then the spool will slide out. Dont want to bad rap a company, but I cant stand that brand of fluro. Try some Vicious Elite. Its much easier to deal with. Get some line conditioner too. You will love fluro once you fish it a while. Good luck.

we took it apart very easy to do that and cut the string off managed to salvage about 50 yards. im goign to make a new thread im positive i know what shappening but dont know how to stop it.

I'm sorry, but blaming a line, any line for pilot error is not acceptable. Backlashes occur with any line. I have fewer with fluorocarbon than with any other line. The #1 cause of backlash is pilot error, that's all there is to it. It isn't the line's fault, not the reel's either.

If youfeel you're having more backlash problems with fluoro, fill the spool slightly less than you would with other lines. Use higher brake settings, and more tension until you get used to the way it behaves on your reels.

if your new to baitcasting , there are several items you can do to cut down on the frustration of "backlashes", "birdsnests", or whatever one may call them.

I would start with a good mono line, some kvd line conditioner, and some black electricians tape. After filling your reel, pull out about a casts length of line, add a strip of black electricians tape, and rewind the line.

set spool tension knob first with no brakes on...lure should hit ground and spool should STOP, turn magnetic brakes on completely. Go fishing and and adjust brakes down as your casting performance and rates of backlashing improve.

oops, you can do the same with flouro line, but it is much cheaper to learn with a mono line such as big game. up to you.

Revos dont have a button.... The have a thumb screw which needs backed out.. then you rotate the side plate and pull off..

Looked last night, and you are right. Was thinking of my quantum. As for the above, yes you backlash with all lines. But the 100% fluro tends to kink and bind due to it being stiffer than others.

That's what happened you threw all the fundamentals of BC out the window throwing a hail marry to get it a little farther to some lilly pads. Forcing a hard cast is almost a sure fire birds-nest just use your normal smooth casts one nice fluid motion you can still make far casts but you need to know your rod/reel and your own limits. I wouldn't blame the Revo as you said all was good till you tried for that extra long cast.

You won't be mastering it tonight..... It take a good bit of practice to become proficiant with baitcast gear. Give yourself some time and stop switching line, as the line is not the issue.

Trilene 100 % flouro 15# 19.99 for 200 yards....10 cents per yard.

that makes flouro 10 times more expensive than mono....in this example. however, it is your money. Just trying to give you some options that may help. Good luck.

Well I see your not spooling your own reels, because you're going by yard, but HOLY FREAKING HALIBUT DUDE!!! You are SERIOUSLY overpaying for mono! for 330 yds (standard mono spool ) it normally costs about 7$. For that same amount of line, you're paying just over 26$!!!

Just buy your own line and spool it yourself, its SO much cheaper, and rediculously easy

i dont have a spooling machine thats why i just take it down to the local store. 120 yards of fluro was only costing me $12.

i would do it my sefl if i got ahold of a spooling machine or something that woudl make it easier. last tiem o spooled mono on my own it was very lose hard doing 5 things at once. holdign the rod cranking the reel, holding the line, keepign pressure on the line, and guiding it. i lose patience fast. but yea i see what you mean doign your own is cheaper. i woudl just buy a big 1500-3000 yard line i have the storage just dont have the equipment. i coudl be wrong but i think spoolign machines are close to a grand if i were to buy one.

You dont need a spooling machine...

Just put the spool on a pencil and put your feet on it. Then reel. Adjust the pressure with your feet.

Make sure you put the line through the line guide if you are not.

X2, especially the part about the electrical tape. You can use Scotch tape, too.
