Mike__D Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Hey I am in need of some information regarding Lake Okeechobee please. I know many of you have either fished this body of water previously or are local in the area and fish it regularly. My wife and I recently purchased a time share about 45 min south west of the lake and this year I am planning of renting a charter and going out for the day. My question is – how is the Bass fishing in early November (we own the week November 3 to 10)? Can anybody recommend me a good charter? I have found several in the area but it seems as though a lot of the local guides guide through the Roland Martin marina. I am just looking for some feedback on a good bass guide to take me and my wife out for the day. I have also seen prices between $350 all the way up to $500 for a single day. Is paying $500 going to get me a better guide or better service or will a $350 guide be able to do the same? I know this is a subjective question so anybody out there with some firs hand info on Okeechobee guides please let me know. As always any responses are much appreciated. Thanks Mike D Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted July 31, 2012 Super User Posted July 31, 2012 Ill take ya for 350 a day. My buddy went out yesterday and caught 63, most on spinnerbaits in 1.5 to 2 ft of water. Quote

Nice!...now is that an average day, good day or great day? And how long where y'all out for? I get 1-5 or 6 in and hour or so when I get out. 63 would put me on the DL list for Tommy John LOL Quote
Shane Procell Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I saw a video on you tube yesterday (video from last week)where Capt Steve Daniels took these clients off shore. They were smokeing 1-7 pounders on big white swimbaits. I also remember watching him with Hank Parker last year using the same method off shore for big fish. Quote

gar-tracker Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 November will be great, if we get a little more water the fish will be grouping up and moving in. I also remember watching him with Hank Parker last year using the same method off shore for big fish. He brought Grisby out there a few years back, you better know where your going or it could be disastrous. Quote
Mike__D Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 Thanks for all the answers. So far I have either heard of or found the following guides that have caught my interest: - Steve Daniels - Steve McDonald - John Miller (Thank you dinky) - Mark King - Kevin Long Anyone with first hand experience with any of the above mentioned guides? Thank you Mike D Quote
salmicropterus Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Can certainly confirm Steve Daniels as a great guide and a teacher on all things Lake. I spoke to him night before last and he said he was blasting them offshore, similarly as when he did the show with Shaw-typical summer pattern-follow the birds or search for a shad school and follow. wrat Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Steve Daniels has been ao the lake for a long time Quote
etommy28 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Steve Daniels and Mark King are both awesome. Quote
Gotfishyfingers? Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I took a fiend and his son fishing there yesterday and we had a blast. Probably boated about 30 fish all together, biggest being 7 lbs. Just about all on rubber worm. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted August 5, 2012 Super User Posted August 5, 2012 I fished with Steve Daniels as a teenager and will recommend him to anyone who wants to fish the Lake! Quote
Gotfishyfingers? Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I bet the bite is hot right now with this overcast weather. Man, I wish I was on the lake right now. Quote
piscicidal Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Tell me about it...I haven't had my boat out in five weeks. All ready to fish tomorrow...go to test the boat today...voltage regulator gone. Fried some wires. At least another week for me. Quote
