airborne_angler Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 I just recently purchased a box with some swimbaits off Ebay. The description reads: Swimbaits are pictured. All are new except the double jointed one with red gill. Price is for all including plano box Brands are Optimum, Monster Jack and not sure on the other. Im not so sure on the brands as the seller described. Can anyone give a positive ID of the baits based on the picture? Im just curious as to what I will actually be receiving. Im especially concerned about the one with the red gills...What is it,who makes it? What about the hard jointed bait next to it? Im almost certain the 2 smaller soft swimbaits together are Baby Line Thru and the other soft one is an Optimum..Am I close? Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 29, 2010 Super User Posted January 29, 2010 From left to right: There are several swimbait companies that manufacture those line-thru swimbaits, so it 's hard to tell exactly which brand, they look like Osprey Talons. That 's a Fish Arrow Spooky Jack swimbait Sebile Magic Swimmer. Optimum Internal Head Quote

Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 29, 2010 Super User Posted January 29, 2010 Please dont take this the wrong way, but why on earth would you buy swimbaits that you dont know what they are? IIRC, you have purchased quite a few things off Ebay before and then come here to ask either A) What they are or What do you guys think of these. Just confusing, that's all... Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 29, 2010 Super User Posted January 29, 2010 Just a note, never ever mix that Fish Arrow with any other kind of bait, the tail melts if put in contact with other soft plastic. Also, the tail is attached to the swimbait by a couple of wood picks, be shure the wood picks are tight in the holes or you 'll end up with a tail less bait and those tails are not easy to find. It 's almost impossible to find replacement tails. Lobina Lures used to carry them but apparently they clearanced all their Fish Arrow stock, which included baits and replacements. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted January 29, 2010 Super User Posted January 29, 2010 I think that might not be a Sebile, Looks more like the Strike King "whatever they call it" lol. Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 29, 2010 Super User Posted January 29, 2010 I think that might not be a Sebile, Looks more like the Strike King "whatever they call it" lol. It doesn 't have hinges connecting the sections like the Strike King Sexy Swimmer. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted January 29, 2010 Super User Posted January 29, 2010 Yup. (I'm gonna make one outta play-doh, and shoot it real fuzzy -just to try and stump him ). Quote

That is a large bait, not the 125's people are used to seeing. Quote

IIRC, you have purchased quite a few things off Ebay before and then come here to ask either A) What they are or What do you guys think of these. Just confusing, that's all... On this Ebay deal, I purchased them because of the price. I did some research based on the description given, but the whole "Monster Jack" description wasnt jiving with the pictures I have researched. Hence the question. Say these baits are as Raul says they are(which I have no reason to doubt) what would the going rate for a collection of baits like this be,with or without the box, individually or as a set like Ive shown? I picked this deal up for about $15. I figure if I never use em,I could always sell em individually and at least break even...There maybe a little profit to be made as well. Quote
airborne_angler Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 Just did some research as far as the sellers "completed listings." I found the seller I bought these swimbaits from had auctioned the Fish Arrow Bait previously by itself. In that auction he described it as a Fish Arrow Spooky Jack Jr.. Heres the auction for that bait by itself: http://cgi.ebay.com/Spooky-Jack-Jr-Swimbait_W0QQitemZ180456730918QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2a040f3126#ht_500wt_975 It didnt sell, and got no bids. Super User Raul Posted January 30, 2010 Super User Posted January 30, 2010 It 's hard for me to determine the size by looking at a picture alone without any references or having something to compare, it could be indeed a Spooky Jack Jr ( have no reason to doubt it ), Ospreys and Optimuns are not expensive but the Fish Arrow is, it sells normally for around 40 dollars if it is a Jr and for around 50 dollars if it 's a regular. You got them all for $15, that 's most definately not a bad deal. Quote
Thai Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I'm pretty sure that isnt a Sebile, looks like a copy..the sebiles dont have pectotoral fins, the head slope is off, gill plate is too far back, eyes look bigger, doesnt look like it has a textured scale pattern and the finish on the one above doesnt look like sebile style/quality Quote
-nick- Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I'm thinking that one is a Storm Kickin' Stick, not a Sebile. I haven't seen a Sebile Swimmer in that color. I've been eyeing those Kickin' sticks lately though. Only about 10 bucks for one! Quote

Kicking sticks dont have a molded pectoral fin either, and the one pictured lacks a gill cover plate in combination with the juncture as seen in the storms.. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted January 30, 2010 Super User Posted January 30, 2010 yeah its not a seible or a storm. neither one of them have the molded fin. the only magic swimmer knock off i know of that has a molded fin is a clear model (made to be repainted by hobbyists) that comes from www.crankbaitcomponents.com. their site is down right now or i'd link you right to the bait. it looks exactly like the one pictured in this thread, but they don't come painted. airborne_angler Posted January 30, 2010 Author Posted January 30, 2010 Ill post up pics of the baits when they come in the mail so a final consensus can be made. Thanks for everyones response up to this point. Quote
airborne_angler Posted January 30, 2010 Author Posted January 30, 2010 Well the Swimbaits arrived today.I have added an AA battery for size comparison I can tell you the 2 together in the box are Optimum Line Thru Baits. The Fish Arrow isnt all that big like I had imagined. The previous owner "doctored" the bait a little by adding some nail polish gills and black spots. Im not to fond of this, but well what are ya gonna do? Now as far as the Sebile style bait,I cant tell what it is. No markings, but it does have rattles inside. Anyone know for sure what this bait might be? The other is an Optimum Internal head Quote
airborne_angler Posted January 30, 2010 Author Posted January 30, 2010 The Fish Arrow Spooky Jack (JR?) Quote
