I am looking for another drop shot reel and am kinda stuck between these two.

The Sedona is supposed to be really good at reducing line twist.

The President is lighter and very smooth, not sure about line twist though.

I'd like to hear your opinions.

I don't have experience with the new Sedona's but I do have a old one its like 10years old maybe I don't remember when I bought it but its still going strong despite part of the bail system being super glued because my braid cut threw the plastic. I'm sure the newer ones have got to be great.

That's a coin flip. They're both nice reels.

Can you find any of the closeout Saharas? My Dicks had them for ~$45.

Another vote for the President here.

Sedona. I've had them for almost 12 years and they're still going strong. Bought two of the new model last year and can't say enough about them. Don't have any experience with the President, but seems like a nice reel.

No experience with the Sedona, but have been using a couple of presidents for a few years now with no problems. Very nice reels for the money in my experience.

Vote for Sedona here, but President a good reel, too.

Prefer the fact that Shimano reels are fresh/salt capable out of the box. Not a big deal for some, but I'm near ocean and brackish waters so having one reel able to do both is a major plus.

Besides that, I've put Shimano spinning reels thru the paces and am majorly impressed with the smoothness and build quality. But that's me....

Probably the one with the best deal at the time, both reels will do the the job.

As noted, for salt or brackish water I would not select either reel, a step up in quality would be cheaper in the long run.

The sahara 2500 weighs less than the president 35 xt (xt can be used in salt), both have about the same line capacity. From both personal use and observation, there is less emphasis on weight of reels for salt water use.

The sahara is graphite construction and the president xt is alum. I like the handle better on the sahara than I do on the president xt.

Both reels are fairly smooth and have an adequate drag, imo it's a toss up.

I like the Sedona's and Sahara's, but the President beats them hands down. I believe it to be the best spinning reel out there for under $100.

As an owner and fisher of both, I would say go with the President. Both are great reels and have not given me any problems. However, the Pres is smoother than the Sedona and IMO feels better in my hands. The Presidents are on sale at wally world all the time for 45$ atleast at my walmart. You cant go wrong either way!

I have 2 sedonas and 1 president. Honestly I think it is a coin toss. The president might be a little bit smoother, but I like the handle on the sedonas better (the president I have is a few years old with a wooden handle) . Both great reels for the price.

Wow, a lot of responses, thanks guys.

I was originally going with the Sedona because of their Line Management system, to keep line twist at a minimun when drop shotting

I have been becoming a bit of a Shimano guy myself, but it sounds like the President is hard to beat, even up to $100.

Another thing that I just noticed is the President 20 is lighter than the Sedona 10. Plus the 20 is $10 cheaper than the bigger sizes.

Sounds like a win, win...win!
