Being only 15, I have a budget but I WANT/NEED to switch to braided line.. I just think all the styles I fish and ways would help me land more fish.. I'm using, jigs, wacky worms, and jerkbaits on this pole.. Any favorite brands, styles and please leave poundage numbers which would suit me best..!

P.S are these braids any good?

i wouldn't get those. They are cheap lines and I think you will be dissapointed.

I like Sufix 832, and has been my go to for a while now. For your needs I would get 40 lb.

Seaguar Kanzen has also impressed me, but not enough to make me switch from 832.

I've tried a few spiderwire lines and was not impressed. The lines dug into themselves even with mono backing, snapping knots on the cast. If I ever switch back from yozuri im trying suffix 832 or p-line.

Im very happy with my suffix 832, and i know how it is to be on a tight budget, but if you go cheap the first time, you'll end up losing more money, time, and fish. If you get some good stuff you wont have to worry about all those problems, if you have to wait a little bit to get it, then do it, its worth saving yourself the frustration.

Okay, so i'll pass on those cheap lines and it sounds like this suffix 832 is the way to go? whats a good pound test to get?

If you aren't going the cheap route- braid lasts forever as it is- you might as well buy (one of) the best. Daiwa Samurai.

55 lb test for regular bass fishing.

Due to the no stretch and memory, will I be able to keep the line on my baitcaster as long as it lasts till I need more? or will it be a every year new line thing?

I like power-pro Ive had no problems, I landed a 42 inch northern pike on 10lb Power Pro

Its fairly cheap too, like 15 dollars for 150 yards and 25 for 300

An older TT test of 3 braids wound up with Sufix Performnce as the best for your money. Not exactly a full test of all available braids. :) Because of this test I put 40# Performance on one of my BC reels and have absolutely nothing bad to say about it. Line has been on my STX for 3 years and this spring landed my PB LMB. When I first starting fishing with my relation when visiting Florida, I used spare spinning outfits he provide. PowerPro is all he uses. Again no complaints on this end.

I just put 10# 832 on a spinning reel. Haven't used it enough to give a responsible report on it. Have 55 Samurai on a BC reel. It hasn't seen a lot of use either. All I can honestly say about both is that they cast well. However, any braid should cast well. Some will be noisier than others. Sufix Performance and the older PowerPro will give excellent results for a bit less money. The new PowerPro was more expensive than the 832 at DSG's.

I know most people hate spiderwire but they do make a cheap braid for people who are just learning to use braid. It is called EZ Braid. that way you learn how to cast and get used to it and if you destroy the spool you are not out a lot of money. Once you get used to it then get whatever the best at that time is.

Is it different casting with braid over mono on a caster? And currently im using a cheaper caster, but I plan to get a abu revo soon, will that make my casting better or different with those switches?

Spiderwire Stealth braid would be a good one to start with. I still use it for my 65# frogs and jigs. Never had it break on me. I like the fact that it is 12# dia for being 65#. Anyway, just make sure you stick to a 40-65# , if you go too thin you will end up with the line digging in on itself with a hookset. Also, dont need to fill the whole spool with braid, fill maybe 1/2 with a cheap mono, then connect the 2 with a line to line knot, and fill the rest with the braid.

If I fill half or a 4th mono and a other braid, will I still have the hookset of a braid and sensitivity?

Yes, sensitivity is there, it doesnt matter the fill. The purpose is that you dont need a whole spool of braid, so you just use mono to take up the space so you have the outer part of braid to fill the spool.

what LMG said except, I like 5 or six wraps of mono then the whole spool filled with braid, I do this and can get 2 years on it, and since there is no memory, I turn it around and fish the brand new unused end for the next 2 years, 4 years on one spool of line, less than 5 bucks a year for line is cheaper than the cheapest mono! I may only get one year on it if its one of my reels I use heavy, but most go 2 years before turning it around, plus I have had over 30 pound catfish on Lake Erie take a crawler harness and was glad I had the extra line! just another option.
