Alright so i have decided on a Quantum Tour Swindle Rod for my Topwater Jerkbait rod, now i just need a reel. I havent decided on if i want the 6'6 MF or 7' ML/F

Iv considered a few different reels, and please not, I reel lefty. Thanks in advance for the help:)

Shimano Citica 200G 6.5:1 $129

Lews Speed Spool 6.4:1 $99

Quantum Accurist PT 7.0:1 $99

Okuma Citrix 7.3:1 $119

Note: I have no experience with any of these reels, and i just tried to cover different brands at this price range, all feedback id apreciated, even on which model rod to get with the reel. Open to all suggestions.

Another option to consider:

For ~$125 you should be able to find a Curado 50E or 200E, NIB or "gently used".

x2

If you want to go with the Lew's spend a few more bucks and get the Tournament (NOT the MG) You will like the mechanical breaks

Check Ebay they are under $120

I would look for a gently used Daiwa Fuego or SOL, my choice being the latter, in that price range. eBay usually has some good deals pop up.

I like the 'gently used' 51E, Fuego and Sol suggestions. I have all three. The 51E is very good at casting lighter baits. Mine was cleaned by DVT before using. However, both of the other reels can also do very well with light baits if customized a bit. There are a couple gentlemen who have posted here about how well their Fuegos cast light lures. The Fuego will hold considerable more line than either of the other 2 if that is important to you. You can also find a Cronarch 101A or 101B at that price. These are both great options on the 'gently used' list.

I haven't used any of the reels you listed, so can't comment on them other than to say they all get good marks from others. I'm sure you already know that.

Try the new Curado 201G. I hear that they are great reels, even though they are not the E, its not too bad.

150/160 is a little out of the price range right now, im thinking about 40 dollars cheaper.

Picked up my 2 Chronarchs for $125 (each, of course) shipped. Both in very good shape. My Sol was the same price, but not cosmetically as nice as the Chronarchs. My last Fuego (I have 3, first 2 were on closeout at TW) was purchased used $135, and is also in very good shape . The 51E was $98 on closeout. Can't find used for less than about $125, so guess these reels are about $15-$20 more than you would like to spend.

New is nice, but used can save a lot. I posted a link on another thread where the poster was wanting to pick up a low cost value reel for a friend. It would be his friend's first baitcaster. It was for a Citica 200D.....$50, and looked to be in excellent condition from the pictures he posted. Reel can be found here.

I wouldn't spend $120.00 when I can have this, you won't find a reel close to this price with these features or quality, well worth the extra $19.00. bigger drag, more bearings, and dual breaking, titanium line guide, much better reel than the $99.00 Speed Spool, Just go hear and be assured you will be happy!

WOW, $125 for a Chronarch? Where are you guys looking? That is an amazing price!

I primarily look at this site, TT, and the Texas Fishing Forum. I paid $125 for the Chronarch 101A I bought for my daughter a couple years ago. The 101A I bought for myself this past winter for the same price was in even better shape. I'd have to say 'excellent'. The 100B (not 101B) came in original box with bag and oil, those funky plastic paddle covers and spooled with what looks like 15#-17# mono. It has very light scuff marks...mostly on the ridge opposite the handle (left cover). There is one deeper scuff mark on the left cover near the bottom edge (near foot). I don't really know how to score reels, but guess it would have to be at least an 8.5 cosmetically.

I missed a really great deal on TTF recently because I haven't been checking it every day. Actually I have to stop buying reels. Been working a part-time job on top of my full time job. Not getting out very often. The 101A, 100B, TD-X, TD-S, one Fuego (of 3 I have), 2 of the 3 Black Max 1600C reels I have and a Prodigy haven't even been mounted on rods yet. Heck, 5 of them aren't even spooled. :(:(

Very depressing.
