Which Line?

I am looking to spool my first baitcaster (Lews Tournament SS 6.4:1, 6'9 MH/F Veritas) and not sure what line to use. I want something pretty versatile (jigs, spinners, heavier cranks, soft plastics). It seems to me that 12-15lb fluoro would be a good line to use for what I want to throw. I've read a lot of good things about seagur and sunline, but also a lot of people seem to really like yozuri hybrid. What would be best for my situation?

If you don't mind the price difference I feel Sunline Sniper is an excellent line for your intended uses. You can fill two reels if you use a little mono backing and the longevity is pretty good. I would go with at least 12# and maybe more depending on how heavy of cover you fish. Remember, if you fish fluoro, your knot is just as important as what brand of line you are fishing.

Thanks! The Sunline does look awesome. Its one of those things where if I want to find the best bang for my buck with a little more emphasis on the bang side of the equation, meaning I'm willing to pay a little bit more if it means it will be that much better.

If its your first baitcaster, don't bother with anything but mono. Buy an extremely cheap bulk spool of 10# mono and learn to fish with it first.

Then go out and bug some Seagaur Invizx

Thanks! Already got some 10# Trilene I was planning to learn with. I'm lookin one step ahead so I can add the line in with my next order of tackle.

Yo Zuri in 12# is an amazing line for everything mentioned. If your gonna be throwing jigs though and are around some more moderate to heavy cover, i would suggest flouro in 15lbs up to 20.

I use 12 lbs yo zuri 75 % of the time.

YoZuri 12# X2. I use it on my Curado 50E to thro my lighter baits, and ALOT of around town use. Being as strong as it is, I am not afraid to tackle 10# Snakeheads with it, and as cheap as it is, not afraid to cut line. Cant beat it.

2 votes for Yo Zuri. Its going to be hard to pass that line up with all the good reviews I've read and the fact that I can get 600yds for less than 200yds of some of the better fluoro. It sounds like knot strength is better with Yo Zuri as well. Is this true to yall's experience?

Agreed LMG, just started using it about a month ago, because of all the positive feedback on this forum. It's great line. See no need to change in the near future.

I think most people will tell you that fluorocarbons in general don't have superior knot strength. If you are just learning to use a bait caster, yozuri would be a good line. It just has too much stretch for my tastes.

Yozuri hybrid, izorline xxx copolymer, & trilene sensation are lines I've heard nothing but good things about and they are very reasonably priced.

P-line CX or yo-zuri hybrid. You don't have to break open your piggy bank to get quality line with those 2 choices available.
