Super User rockchalk06 Posted July 27, 2012 Super User Posted July 27, 2012 I have been watching a lot of flukmasters vidoes and really liking the look of his rods. He says hes using a Ducket and Dobyns for example. I really don't have the money to spend on them so I was looking for some cheaper alternatives. The thick backbone is what I'm after. Those things look like baseball bats compared to my rods. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted July 27, 2012 Super User Posted July 27, 2012 Actually I rather a thin diameter blank as it is light but it also has to be strong but most quality medium heavy rods will be close. If you have medium power spinning rods then a medium heavy or heavy casting rod will look thick compared to that and a Dobyns savvy or a Ducket Micro Magic really aren't that expensive, but todays value rod market is incredible, you can get a lot of rod for $100. Super User rockchalk06 Posted July 28, 2012 Author Super User Posted July 28, 2012 I have 3 MH rods and all are smaller than throw medium of the above listed two Quote

The lense will distort to a bit, and make the rods look like they're bending less/more depending on angle. Quote

zildjian Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 All my rods are Champion Dobyns and Ducketts Micro Guide with the exception of one Champion Extreme Series Dobyns rod. The Duckett rods aren't that expensive think about $149 and you can look at the Savey Series of Dobyns also. But if your looking for just one all around rod.. It's worth saving up for a Dobyns or Duckett IMO. -zildjian Quote
craww Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Dont really understand wanting a thicker rod ( dont qoute me on that lol). For what its worth all of daiwas lower end stuff seems to have a really thick blank...it actually caused me to pump the brakes on the new TD rods. Quote
