Matthew Veillion Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 The best thing ive gotten was a live target frog and a bunch of new spooks from the fountains in my pond Quote
BassAssassin726 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Ive got a good one. One day me and a buddy went smallmouth fishing at Neshaminy Creek. On the way I was telling him how id like to try some Live Target cranks cause they actually look like fish but theyre really expensive. Well as im fishing a plastic worm on the bottom when i get snagged, i pulled and pulled and finally it popped free, as im reeling it back in i noticed it felt weird coming in, well when i got it in there was a brand spankin new Live Target Bluegill. Must have just been lost cause there was zero rust and the finish was new and shiny. Couldnt believe it. What are the odds? lol Quote
rb56 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 since the fish aren't biting i will...Lordy...ouch! just two weeks ago i was fishing for tree bass on the banks of the caddo river and was about 30 yards maybe from the bank. i was using a black weedless jig head with a green speckled spilt tail grub and my cast is high and over a limb over hanging the water. i gave a quick tug and uh oh...gonna cut this one. i gave one more quick forceful tug and oops! duck! so i did and WHAM! 3/8 oz. lead right in the top left forehead. i tell ya, pain went all through my head and it sounded like a gunshot. i grabbed my head and first noticed i didn't feel a hook which gave relief, i used my phone to take a pic since i had no mirror and sure enough a nice little half in split and blood. i was just glad it wasn't 3 inches lower and an inch right. tree bass 1 ol rb 0. now i cut the line. Mad Fisherman Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 I was fishing in a small dirty stream and I was using a small crank and I got snagged and lost it. The next day I went back using the same lure( I had several) and on the way in it felt wrong and I snagged my lure back. Ten feet from that same exact spot a couple years back I snagged a fishing rod. Took it home, cleaned it up, and good as new. Quote
JSPOONE Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Went fishing with a buddy a month back he was tossing a crank bait. His last cast with it he hooked me in the back of the head, took 30 mins to get it out of my head lol. Only thing we caught all day was me lol Quote

I have had almost the same experience, except that in my case it was a 3/16 oz jig, and I ducked a little so that my hat (and my head under it) took the blow. God it still hurt like #$@%. Quote
Super User rockchalk06 Posted July 26, 2012 Super User Posted July 26, 2012 I caught a dodge neon once. Purple too! I was fishing off the boat dock back home and got snagged 3 times on something 10 feet off the ramp. There shouldn't have been anything there. Contacted KDWP and they did some trolling with their fish finder later that day. Got a call about 6 hours later telling me they found a purple neon that was stolen about 3 days ago. How in gods earth did some poor sap not tag the end of his boat with the car but no reports. They found a butt load of stolen property with the car too. Quote
tholmes Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Several years ago, I was deep crankin' for walleye at a local reservoir when I felt a bump on the lure. I set the hook and felt weight on the line but it didn't feel quite "right". I reeled it in and, to my surprise, I landed a Lew's Speed Stick with an Ambassadeur 5000-D on it. It was in pretty good shape and, after a thorough cleaning and re-lubing, it worked like a champ. I used that rig for several years. Tom Quote
hatrix Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 About a month ago I went down to a friends house to fish for the weekend. We fished a couple places that get heavy pressure from people bank fishing (mostly cat fishers). Over Friday night and Saturday Sunday I gained 6 lures and about 8 or 9 sets of terminal stuff from people fishing the bottom. People were getting there cheap mono caught on rocks and breaking off but not me. I use Power Pro cranking the rocks and if I do get hung I will most likely bend the hook out and get it back either way. The best one out of all of them was my buddy got hung with a rage craw and cut the line on braid even after I said just pull as hard as you can. Any ways about maybe 15-20 min later I hooked up on his line and then I felt a fish on and even watched it jump. He came running over and grabbed the line but was slow about it and gave the fish slack and it got off. He did get his craw and keel weighted hook back though so that's cool since they were fresh out the pack. I kind of wondered though if the fish was all ready on or when I snagged his line and moved the bait that's what made him bite. I am going to go with the latter cause I think if it was all ready on it would of been gut hooked or something and probably wouldn't of come off. Quote
RyneB Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 I was throwing a crank at my local river a few years back. Reeled in a hologram purple looking Xcalibur crank. The hooks were rusty and the bait was kinda mucky. I soaked it in simple green and swapped out the hooks. Havent caught a fish with it, but it is a cool looking bait and havent seen any like it. Missourifishin Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 I went camping and fishing this past weekend with some friends. We just fish from the bank. I have a spot I like between 2 submerged trees. I get alot of bites there, but I usually get snagged multiple times per day too. I was fishing with a live worm, just trying to catch us some dinner, when my line got snagged. This time, rather than breaking my line, I just set the pole down and cracked open a cold beverage. About 10 minutes later my pole started moving towards the water and I had to run after it to keep it from going in. Reeled in a channel cat that was about 4 or 5 pounds. Apparently he got my line untangled for me! Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted July 31, 2012 Super User Posted July 31, 2012 With the drought we are having the water levels in the lakes around here are going way down. I am finding a lot of cranks in timber that use to be under water. Quote
grumpydog Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I caught my wife on a ribbit. Still havnt heard the last of that one. I told her it was nice to find out she wasnt a bottom feeder. Found out she doesnt have a sense of humor about those things either! 1 Quote
tennsopher Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 About 25 yrs ago I was striper fishing at what was then Kingston Steam plant from the bank.We were using river herring for bait. They can easily be caught by throwing small kastmaster spoons.I was needing more herring or as the local call them greenback shad.I took my rod and placed huge boulders around it to secure, and I had a clothespin taped to my reel(spinning)so that if I got bit the clothespin would release the line to free spool.I walked up the bank aways and low and behold got a vicious hit on my striper outfit. Before I could get back to it,the line released and was going out so fast it wrapped around the reel handle. The pole flew aout fifteen feet into the Clinch river.I called for my brother in law and told him what had happened. We tried to drag for it to no avail. The next week ,same spot, two guys from Pennsylvannia were fishing down from us.Isaw one of them hook something, and you guessed it my rod. When I saw the tip come out of the water I yelled ,"i lost that rod a week ago. It's a bc1100 ugly stick with a 2250 mitchell reel."The guy looked at it said your right and I offered to pay him to get it back.He just handed it to me and said he understood having lost two outfits there himself.I still have the rod it was an early flipping stick.Just goes to show you there are good people left in this world. Super User deep Posted August 5, 2012 Super User Posted August 5, 2012 Snagged and got back one of my old school huddleston deluxes today; 3.5 months after I lost it. I'm pretty stoked to get it back; they don't make those any more. Quote
Kayak Angler Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 About a year ago I snagged a rattle trap that was connected to a decent spinning rod cleaned it up and used it for a while. First cast with the rattle trap I snagged it and lost it kind of ironic right ? Quote

elhoward622 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I caught a red-eye shad while throwing a red-eye shad LOL. This summer I took my dad kayak fishing and he flipped his boat, losing his new rod and reel. I looked and swam for about an hour and finally saw a glimpse of cork and snagged it. It was a nice baitcaster setup some one must have lost in the same set of rapids. Dad still uses that thing! Quote
