buzzfrog Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 i have been using my wacky rod for shakeys and weightless, it is a 7M falcon HD, lately i have been killing them on wacky and shakey, if I aint hitting them on wacky, then it is shakey, Instead of tying back and forth, I am planing on getting a setup just for shakeys. So in your opnion, would you get a 6'6 rod for more controling of the bait or a a 7-7'2 with a fast tip to have a better bounce of the bait. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted July 25, 2012 Super User Posted July 25, 2012 I've never been able to fish more than one rod/reel at a time. If my current rod filled the bill for both techniques I'd continue to use it for both. Re-tying baits occasionally is NOT a bad thing. oe Quote
buzzfrog Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 though i fish shore and walk long ways i usally dont like to retie, ohwell Quote
NitroZ9 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I fish shakey head a lot and prefer a 7' Med. with a fast action. I think the longer rod gives you a better hook set and better control of the fish. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 25, 2012 Super User Posted July 25, 2012 I use a 6-3 rod for this. About the only thing I like a longer spinning rod for is grubs and senkos. Quote
Jig Meister Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I use a 7' M/F Vendetta and it works great for both Wacky and Shaky, which is usually what I toss on it. Quote
buzzfrog Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 thanks guys, i think i will stick to another falcon rod, but still keep em comming Quote
cueball Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I think if you are used to a 7 footer I would stick with it. My example is a little more extreme, but I built a 6 footer last year as sort of a nostalgia project. I wanted a rod like an old Lightning Rod I used 20+ years ago, but with modern guides and reel seat. After using 7 footers almost exclusively, I just did not feel like I could get enough sweep with the 6 footer on hook sets. Quote
buzzfrog Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 thanks i think i will got with the normal bocoo, i dont like the mirco guides on spinning, it is moderatly priced and well falcon hasnt let me down. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 25, 2012 Global Moderator Posted July 25, 2012 I use a 6' 10" LTB "shakeyhead" model. I like the longer rod to cast and set the hook from a distance. Quote
