i have been using my wacky rod for shakeys and weightless, it is a 7M falcon HD, lately i have been killing them on wacky and shakey, if I aint hitting them on wacky, then it is shakey, Instead of tying back and forth, I am planing on getting a setup just for shakeys. So in your opnion, would you get a 6'6 rod for more controling of the bait or a a 7-7'2 with a fast tip to have a better bounce of the bait.

I've never been able to fish more than one rod/reel at a time. If my current rod filled the bill for both techniques I'd continue to use it for both. Re-tying baits occasionally is NOT a bad thing.

I fish shakey head a lot and prefer a 7' Med. with a fast action. I think the longer rod gives you a better hook set and better control of the fish.

I use a 6-3 rod for this. About the only thing I like a longer spinning rod for is grubs and senkos.

I use a 7' M/F Vendetta and it works great for both Wacky and Shaky, which is usually what I toss on it.

I think if you are used to a 7 footer I would stick with it.

My example is a little more extreme, but I built a 6 footer last year as sort of a nostalgia project. I wanted a rod like an old Lightning Rod I used 20+ years ago, but with modern guides and reel seat. After using 7 footers almost exclusively, I just did not feel like I could get enough sweep with the 6 footer on hook sets.

I use a 6' 10" LTB "shakeyhead" model. I like the longer rod to cast and set the hook from a distance.
