So lately I have been fishing this big pond where usually only plastic worms work, but lately I have seen one of my friends using a yellow spinnerbait catching some nice little bass on it. The catfish/carp were not biting so I put a big Terminator silver spinner bait on and I caught a small one and had 1 big hit but lost it. All of a sudden it seem's spinnerbaits are working. I never had luck with spinnerbaits at all. In my whole life of fishing I have only had 1 small bass on one but it got off. Where and when do you guy's think spinnerbaits work best because I have found out you can get the hardest hit's and the funnest fights on them.

Keep mixing it up. Last year I caught 2/3 of my fish on a lipless crank. This year that same crank has been ok, but swimbaits and soft plastics have been working well for me too. I have pulled in a few this year on my spinners. If something does not work , don't be afraid yo try something else.

I will use them in lower light conditions, overcast sky's, and sometimes as a search bait. I also never usually straight retrieve the spinner bait either, always give it a lot of action, bass like it when you fluff the skirt which can be done my reeling and stopping for a moment.

Jig Meister hit it good. Cloudy with a little chop is perfect spinnerbait time.

Perhaps the fish had seen your plastic worm so much they got tired of it.

My.02 on spinnerbaits...

If ya can, throw it into some grass or work it over some wood cover. As soon as you feel a bump, give it a pop. This will either set the hook or pop the spinnerbait over the branch, log/get ya loose of the weeds. Otherwise the bait will turn over and you will have hooked a stick fish. Definitely one of my favorite lures to use. Very versitile.

For example, today I tried the same spinnerbait I had the big one one on at the same time and got nothing, but 1 guy got 2 on a buzzbait fished like a spinnerbait. Fishing was really not that good. A few guy's got some here and there with senko's, but that was it.
