kylek Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 I use the Booyah pad crasher and like it. I have used a live target one and it was good also. I dont think there is a bad time of day to throw it. Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 24, 2012 Super User Posted July 24, 2012 Any frog you like will do. Everyone has a favorite and I am sure they will let you know what it is. Quote
Scorcher214 Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 I have a few spros and to be honest, never ever have I hooked with one, not saying they are bad but, I never had any luck with them. They filled up with water as well. Used a snag proof frog yesterday, and bam. Hooked up like I'm Barney Stinson. And everytime I went to check it to see if it had water in it, it didnt have anything. As for color, I was using a black one. Quote

M-D Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 I like the Spro popping frog in white. It has great action and easier to see that it has disappeared than other colors. They do get water in them so you just have to squeeze them every couple of casts. I wish they could make the paint finish last longer too. I also like the Koppers live target frogs, they don't tend to get any water in them and the finish will last a long time but, IMO the trade off is essentially no action. Quote
topdog5050 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Well likw M-D was saying the Spros are suppose to be good i just ordered mine from *** and i love the Ribbit frogs and they do catch fish. Quote
bassking1976 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Use mostly spro frogs for my my hollow bodied frogs really want to try the pad crasher from boo yah as i heard its softer which might increase my hook ups this summer though ive been throwing the stanley ribbit and have absolutely loved it Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted July 25, 2012 Super User Posted July 25, 2012 Booyah padcrusher. Wont break the bank, and performs great. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted July 25, 2012 Global Moderator Posted July 25, 2012 I like the scum frog more than any others, including the spro. The scum is a lot more softer which gives better hookups. Mike Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted July 26, 2012 Super User Posted July 26, 2012 Scum frogs and scum frog poppers are great and cheap. I do well on spros of all sizes and models, but they do take on a bit of water. It's not as bad with the popping and bigger sizes of the frog. But I have heard REALLY GOOD things about Bobby's Perfect Frog, the Koppers, and some others. Quote
gobig Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 In my opinion Snag Proof hands down makes the best standard hollow body frog on the market. The Bobby's perfect frog is the best all around but I like to use the phat frog in open water or any area you can really walk a frog. It walks super easy. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted July 26, 2012 Super User Posted July 26, 2012 I like the Tru Tungsten Madd Maxx too, walks the dog better out of any I have tried. The spro popper and spro bronzeye walk better than the bronze eye junior. Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 26, 2012 Super User Posted July 26, 2012 I have not read about the new Strike King KVD frog on this post. Anyone out there tried it??? Quote
A-Rob Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 I've been impressed with Ish's Phat Frog I've caught some great ones on it and the hook up ratio has been good with the big Gama hooks Quote
KC Bass Fanatic Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Buy a few different brands and try them out. You will find one you're comfortable with. As for hookup ratios, body softness, etc - man that is just fishermen's excuses. I've used every frog on the market ad nauseum and they all work pretty much the same. Some of my Spro's take on water after 2 fish, some last for 50 fish. Same with the other manufacturers. I don't see a decreased hookup ratio from one brand to another either. If you wait on them and put the hammer down with the right equipment, you will hook them most of the time. Good luck! Quote
