The blocks also don't sit under my kayak right and my kayak sometimes comes off the blocks. Anybody use something similar to this? Quote
Jim McC Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 My 10' kayak fits in my mini van, and I'm still able to close the taillgate. Quote
Scorcher214 Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 My 10' kayak fits in my mini van, and I'm still able to close the taillgate. I accidentally broke my front windshield when I had to pick it up one time and didn't have my blocks and straps... Mine is 10'6" Quote
moguy1973 Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 I use the inno kayak carrier on my car with an inno roof rack. Works great and I've had 2 kayaks up there with no problems. http://www.orsracksdirect.com/inno-ina450-kayak-rack.html Quote
Super User Darren. Posted July 24, 2012 Super User Posted July 24, 2012 Built my own roof rack. Not the most elegant solution, but it works. Put foam blocks on it for my Native Ultimate 12. Strap it down with two cross straps and all's good. 1 Quote
Jig Meister Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 I know a few people that do this: They will use two straps, one for the front and one for the back of the roof, slice two pool noodles and cover the strap so the kayak can sit on it. then they use 2 more straps on the front and back to tie it to the car. works well, and is stable, and really cheap. Super User Hi Salenity Posted July 24, 2012 Super User Posted July 24, 2012 My 10' kayak fits in my mini van, and I'm still able to close the taillgate. Is it an Astro? I have a 2005 Astro panel van I haul mine in. I fish a lake that has about a 5 mile stretch of gravel getting to it so it's NICE to keep it and everything else inside out of the dust!. I am about to put a receiver hitch on it so I can tow my boat and keep my truck clean. Quote

yaknar Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 I just drive my kayak to the river. With the drought here in Missouri, you have to think of a way to go down the river with out dragging. Quote
