Dingah Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 I am looking for a good spinning reel to put on the Abu Garcia Vendetta, i would like to spend $100 or under. Any suggestions? Quote
Dingah Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 Pflueger President, end of story. i am not that familiar with pflueger and i dont know how their reels are, but it sounds like a very good reel for the money. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted July 24, 2012 Super User Posted July 24, 2012 Or go used. I've picked up a couple top tier (in their heyday) Daiwa reels for less than $100 each. Both look like new and function flawlessly. BUT....new is always good. Quote
jerzeeD Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Pflueger President is an excellent choice.... You might want to go to ffo.com and checkout last years model Pflueger supremes they are selling. It is a 100 dollar reel that you can pick up for 70 bucks shipped. And the only real difference between the 2011 and 2012 models are cosmetic. It is a great reel...but the Pres. is still a solid choice Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 25, 2012 Super User Posted July 25, 2012 For under $100 nothing I've seen performs better than anything in the Pflueger line up. I own 6 of them not a single one has ever seen the need for service. For the price of a president, just buy a new one or send it back to Pure Fishing, they probably will replace it for free. Pfluegers are like a Timex, they just keep on ticking. My track record over the last few years other than just a cleaning, 4 Shimanos 1 stradic and 2 spheros needed repairs, 1 Daiwa repaired, 3 Abus repaired (replaced by pure fishing) 1 trion, 3 supremes, 1 medalist and 1 arbor, smooth as the day they were bought and never a need for service. In fairness my Shimanos and Daiwa work just fine after being repaired for salt use, however my salt use Pfluegers never needed repairs in the first place. and are still smoother. The only Shimano I would buy is a stradic, anything more is overkill and anything less is an inferior product IMO, that said I'd buy a stradic for SW, never for freshwater. Quote
Dingah Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 i mostly use shimano, i have a couple saharas, they work good but i think i will give the pflueger president a try. Quote
Rumslo Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Symetre or Pflueger, either one is a good performing reel. Watch for some sales starting. Some outlets will start to get ready for end of summer. Quote
