Hey guys my name is Matt and i live off of Bartram Park Blvd. I have been on the site a few time and have seen that there are some guys in this area. Well i'm new to fishing in general i really haven't fished much since i was a kid and at that it was with a bobber and worm. I was wondering if there was anyone in the area that wouldn't mind meeting up at one of the local ponds to give me some advice? thanks I would really appreciate it.

Just wanted to let ya'll know. I was out hitting the pond behind public/kolhs and I caught my fist bass. i was using a small green/white crank bait. The bass was about 11-12 inches and maybe a 1-1.5 pounds. I just laughed it was a lot of fun. I just wanted to say thanks to you guys for the help and advice. I'm gonna be hitting up that same pond tomorrow morning maybe about 7:30 if y'all want to come out.

Congrats on the fish. Man my last two times there it kicked I disagree. When the algae goes away the culverts behind kohls r nice to fish. The other side by Bonos I pulled out 3 and 4 pounders before so there are so decent fish in there, keep at it. I probably won't make it tomorrow, been out 3 days this week. Maybe next time man.

I caught two this morning. Both smaller, the first was about 1 pound the second maybe 1/2 pound It was a lot of fun. Could any of you that live around here let me know some other pond to hit up? Thank you

There is a pond if you go to the end of bartram park blvd turn right onto race track and right past the cemetery where the road narrows to the right there is a pond. I fished it Thursday. Hit the grass with a top water, I was using a zoom toad. Work the edges of the grass with that crank or a spinner bait. And I got luck working worms in and around the edges of the grass. Also check out Losco park, the abandon subdivision to the left going towards race track but it is really weedy right now, the clear one produce nothing, the other a buddy pulled blue gill out and there is one further in the woods never fished it. The ponds on racetrack across from the dog track, little hard to access but top water strikes abound there. I have also seem people fishing the pond in the business park but I have ever got anything. I hear the ponds in julington creek and area are great but never fished any, ask AK that is his expertise. Also the business park near the hospital. Seen folks fishing but i havent had luck in a couple trips but there are alot of ponds back there only tried 3. Best bet is that first one I gave you, been twice and caught fish twice.

ok cool. I live in williams walk so the pond behind publix/kohls i can walk to it when ever i want. but I thought about checking out the ponds by the hospital. I've seen the one on racetrack past the cemetery. I may try and check that one out later or maybe one night this week. and while i'm there i will check for the one near the dog track. Thanks for all the help. I'm going to head Academy Sports to look for some new tackle.

When your fishing worms do you use a texas jig? and what size weight?

Will Texas rigged worms I go weightless mainly, a 3/0 or 4/0 hook. If you pick up bullet weights, 1/16 and 1/8 are the only sizes I use.

Ak said he heard the pond near the ER has bass. Think there is a medical office building on the other side. I don't know if he fished or not.

Academy sell grande bass, they have trophy hunter but no junebug. But all the colors there are pretty good. Ssssandberg, black/blue, chart/watermelon

The pond by the ER at the hospital has bass in it. I caught a 2.5 and a 3 out of there.

If you come up Bartrum and make a right onto race track and then make a left at the first light there is a pond on your right hand side that has some bass in it. It is small but I have pulled out a couple 2 pounders in there. If you keep going up that road you will see another pond on your right hand side that is next to a park, i think there is tennis courts or something there I forget. I fished it only twice and had a few missed strikes so I know there are fish in there. Then if you keep going there is a huge lake on the left. That lake has some monster fish this guy was telling me but 1. It is over fished and 2. He said you need a boat to get to where they are at. (I am in the process of getting a jon boat trying to find a decent one on craigs list). He told me that he was there with his kids fishing on Saturday and Sunday and he saw some guys catch 5, 7, 8, and 10 pounders in there.... and he said (s) as in more than one he made sure I understood that. The biggest I pulled out of there was a 4. I saw a big ass water moccasin there too thing looked like an anaconda.

So if you don't make that left at the light on race track and you go to the next one (Veterans Parkway, I live off that one) there is a pond on your left hand side. Again the biggest I got out of that one was a 4lb, and that pond seems to be more active in the evening.

If you go to the Publix that is on race track road there is a lake behind it that has some fish in it.

There are tons of other small ponds around this area that hold fish if you have google earth on your phone you can scout em out while driving in the area, thats what I usually do.

I hope you have luck man in the ponds around here cuz I was pulling in big fish left and right earlier in the season and the last big fish I caught was 4+lbs and that was on June 30th! (you know it is bad when I know the exact date that I caught my last big fish) Ever since then it has been nothing but small fish and the biggest I got was 2 something.

well right now i've been pulling out 1/2 pounders a lot on the crank baits. but I am using the smaller cranks does that mean that i need to move up to a larger/deeper size?

I'd tried the hospital yesterday and got 3 casts before the bottom fell out. I think after Chruch today I'm going to try them out again.

Got 3 in 40 mins, all small 10-14 inch. 2 on zoom toads, 1 on KVD finesse worm at that pond just past the cemetery. Dump trucks came and I left. Didn't have much time working the worm, might have caught more. It worked out though.

Nice day today at the bartram/racetrack pond. Had 2 land, one on a blk/blueflk stick and all the rest on redshad greenflk bitters vibe worm 1 thrown hook, 2 breakoffs, and 1 blow up and miss. Things are cooling down, in the low 70's at night, fish seem fiarly active from 6 am to 8 am.
