Having fished shimano for 25 years I'm curious about trying a daiwa. I think the steeze is out of the budget. does anyone have experience with the zillion ? how would it compare to my curado's and chronarchs ?

Well, the Zillion will be a tad heavier than your Chronarch 100A and a tad lighter than your Chronarch 100B. I bought a Curado 51E at the end of last season. Have been using it every since for lighter baits. Great little reel. Purchased a Chronarch 100B last season, but only had it out of the box to look at. Not spooled yet, Purchased a Chronarch 101A over the winter. Not spooled yet either. Haven't been getting out enough this year to use all the gear I have.

However, I have thrown my daughter's Chronarch 101A which is why I bought one for myself. My Zillion 50th hasn't been used this year. It is on a rod that isn't really suited for the fishing I have been doing. Need to switch it because I love that reel. Wish I could give you a comparison, but can't at this time. All I can tell you is I think you will enjoy the Zillion. Like Matthew said, they are built like a tank. A very solid feeling reel. Smooth. Probably the longest cast I have made to date was with my 50th on a Zillion Flip and Pitch rod throwing a 3/4 oz. spinnerbait.

My god, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS CASTING, PLEASE GET A ZILLION!

Seriously though, Zillions are great, solid, workhorses, and the casting.... my god you can get some distance!

Also, these are VERY ergonomic reels. They just kinda, melt away in my hand.

I prefer my Zillions over my E-series Curados. Keep an eye on Ebay, sometimes you can get a good deal on BNIB Zillions.

I have a Zillian 100 SHA and it is a nice reel, but I still favor my Curado E's

I have used Shimano Reels since I started bass fishing. Over the past 2 years I have purchased 2 Daiwa Zillion reels. They are very smooth and in most cases since more smooth than most of my Shimanos. They will not throw as light as baits as the Shimano Curado's but when retreiving you feel more connected to the bait than with the Shimanos. They are great casters and rarely have a professional overrun(backlash) when using the Zillion. They also have very good drags and mine are smoother than the Shimano's.

I would think the Zillion is Daiwa's best reel for the money. Have tried the Steez but for the weight there was not alot of difference to me than the Zillions.
