When one of your storage boxes broke and you have to transfer all of them to a new one.. its not a bad thing when you can transfer 30 crankbaits in only 4 movements.

Get a Plano plastic tackle box and using the plastic separators make a few "compartments" to separate your baits.

Take the cranksbait treble hook and place it over the side of the plastic tackle box's compartment you created so the head is facing down and the crank's fanny is faceing up with one treble hook over the side of the little compartment.

In other words, the rear treble hook is making the crankbait "hang upside down" in the area you created with the separators. You need to place only one of the three hooks over the side of the compartment.

This minimizes the hooks from getting tangled but you do get some tangle with the front trebles in the compartment you created.

Of course, if you put many cranks into one compartment you will have a problem with the treble hooks "hooking" each other.

Using Hook Bonnets can also solve most of your problem if you want to make the investment.

P.S. When you close the cover it holds the cranks in place.

lol Nope, no 5 gallon bucket. But I only separate by depth. I don't have enough room for more than one storage box, considering I am boatless and still have to use a tackle bag.

I've got a Plano box for shallow/topwater, medium, and deep divers because that's all I have room for in my boat with the limit storage space. They usually look about the same when I get a bait out. I figured this was going to be a hook in hand thread when I read it.

Hook bonnets are good but their down side or tradeoff is that they occupy a lot of space. I keep my cranks much like in the photo as this seems to be the only way IMHO to store cranks with the least amount of space. As a shore angler and a minimalist when it comes to fishing (lugging around a ton of crap from the is not fun) it's most practical to put them as shown in that pic. Well, at least until I can find a better solution. Oh yeah. A good thing about bonnets that I like is that they can practically eliminate to potential for cranks to get scratched up by the tines of exposed trebled.
