And your asking for it - "Shoot Me $12" LOL

Maybe you'd get a better response if you dropped your price $2.....

IL ??...... Isn't that where all those Gangsters had those Tommy Guns??? ;)

That whole incident pretty much made up my mind on getting a tactical rifle and and shotgun for the home and carrying pistol everywhere. The whole thing is just sick I sat at the chow hall and watched it unfold on CNN the guy even turned him self in they should fry him but they wont he will sit and rot in prison sucking up more money then hes ever been worth. He should be expedited right to the front of the line for the death sentence and have it carried out maybe by firing squad using a small caliber low power bullet shot repeatedly so its slow and painful seems fitting and fair to me.

This isn't gonna look good for gun owners either this is more ammo for anti gun groups even though he bought all his guns and gear legally. I already heard all kinds of numbers and anti gun talk on CNN about the whole thing. I think every one should carry look at crime rates where there's little gun restrictions low crime then look at DC, NYC, Chicago no guns and tons of crime who would you rather go against if your a criminal some one you know is unarmed or some one who may be carrying its a no brainer.

Another example of why I would carry, even if I wasn't a deputy sheriff. This could happen anywhere and anytime. Are you prepared? For those of you who carry, please PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.

just read this on yahoo

Gill described his friend as an avid outdoorsman and gun rights advocate.

"Pretty much every weapon the guy in the theater used he owned," Gill said. "If you asked if he was still alive, he would have said his only regret is he didn't have his sidearm with him and he couldn't do anything to stop him."

Can someone explain to me how a 20 something year old "kid", without a job can afford the kind of arsenal he had? This kid had enough tactical gear, firearms, and explosives that he had to have dropped between 15k-20k. Not to mention the know how and expertise needed to fabricate the explosives he had rigged in his apartment. This kid was either a mad genius with serious access to cash or something is fishy here.

On the other side......this is just another reason to carry as often as I can. I was sitting in my office this past week when I was reading the local paper. The headline was "Three robberies all connected to same person". Two were professional businesses. A doctors office and an insurance office just up the road and shots were fired at both. I told the girls to keep their eyes open and watch the parking lot. My wife carried her 9mm all week just to be safe. They caught the guy Friday. Thank heavens. You just never know.

I think this argument is null and void. Two of the most dangerous cities in the country, St. Louis and Detroit both allow C&C and they are usually ranked #1&2 in the country annually for murders and aggravated assaults.

Besides, most establishments such as a theater do not allow firearms even if you are permitted to carry. And anyone that is a law abiding C&C citizen would follow rules placed on establishments. Nothing could have prevented this tragedy from happening, and someone pulling out another gun could have only made things worse with that many other people around.

He probably just put his 15-20K worth of merchendise on credit cards and didn't worry about it, seeing that he wasn't planning on making a payment anyway.

I read he came from a upper class family and was a "budding" Scientist and pretty brilliant so. Plus it doesnt take a operator to walk into a crowded movie theater and do what he did a blind man could probably have done it the theater was packed. Making bombs also not rocket science it doesnt take much to make a pipe bomb and you can find anything on the internet.

He was a PhD or masters student who was dropping out. He could've bought them on credit or used his student loans. I don't believe it was 15-20K worth of stuff, more like 4-5K. The stuff he was buying wasn't expensive. It doesn't take much skill to walk into a theater with a shotgun, assualt rifle and two handguns and do alot of damage. Horrible tragedy by a deranged individual.

yup gas masks can be had off line for like 20-100 bucks for a cheap one AR15 low models can be had for 700 shotgun 150-400 pistol anywhere from 300-1200. they were probably all budget guns the most expensive was probably the 4-5k rounds of ammo they said he had thats the hardest to stock pile without a huge wad of cash.

Unfortunately I can imagine airport security style entry and alarmed fire exits in theaters and other similar entertainment centers in the near future as a knee-jerk reaction to this event. My local bank just installed a double door personnel trap with metal detectors to increase security; if you set off the metal detector you have to empty your pockets or leave the building. I would also expect the gun lobbyist will maintain a low profile for a while.

But I agree that someone pulling out another gun could have only made things worse with that many other people around. A well meaning citizen could do more harm than good in a chaotic environment as described in the theater.

Yes and no. I'd be willing to bet most of the murders are being commited by and to gang affiliated individuals. Only when the innocent bystanders are brought into the equasion, others begin to pay attention.

Here in Chicago, the murder rate is up 36% over last year http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/07/02/chicago-murder-rate-surges-as-new-york-s-drops-to-record-low.html .Our police department is understaffed between 2000-3000 officers and the officers we have are putting in tons of OT.

CC is not to prevent the gangbangers from killing each other. It's for law abiding citizens to protect themselves from the nutbags.

Wrong. Things get MUCH worse by NOT confronting an active shooter, who mostly go on shooting/killing until they are stopped or run out of victims. That guy had only one thing on his mind and that was to KILL. Being a kitty cat isn't going to save you in that type of situation.

As we were told in our CCW class. You can be a sheep or a sheep dog. Those who carry are sheep dogs who help protect the sheep from wolves. Most people would not have opened fire in that theater to go after the shooter. Unless the opportunity arose we were always taught to get to safety.

That's why you practice, practice and practice. How much safety is there in a theater? But I do agree, a gun in the hands of someone who only carries because "they can" could cause more harm than good.

I agree. In the mass chaos that was happening in that theater, along with the fact that the guy threw out smoke/tear bombs into the crowd would have made it hard for anyone to target the right person in that scenario. Plus how many people would have been calm enough in the situation where a guy wearing body armor and a helmet wielding an assault rifle to be able to sensibly pull out their CC weapon to do anything before they got shot themselves. All the practice in the world cannot come near enough to prepare a common citizen for something like that. Heck even military trained personel have trouble dealing with someone else pointing a gun at them.

We can armchair quarterback this until doomsday, it's impossible to say what we would or could do in a chaotic situation like that, and given the fact you can't carry everywhere. This is kind of like a political or religious discussion.

But I am interested to understand the use of the fire exit and propping it open to retrieve his weapons. I'll have to check our local theater, but aren't the exits alarmed to prevent people from sneaking their friends into a movie

I thought the same thing. Maybe he fiddled with the door alarm. Now that I think about it, a lot of the theaters back in the "day" had you exit from the non-alarmed exit doors next to the screen and not the main doors in which you entered the lobby. The exit doors next to the screen allowed everyone to see if someone from the inside opened the door to let someone on the outside in. I wondar how many of those theaters still have you exit that way?

One of the simple facts is that the theater this happened at has policies AGAINST concealed carry, and no law abiding citizens would have been carrying anyways.

This does nothing but show that gun control does not work.

I'm very anti gun, but no gun control law could ever stop a tragedy as this, If some one wants to obtain a weapon they will regardless of any law. As Mayor Bloomberg said on TV the other day, we have enough laws, just that they are not enforced and there is a lack of funding. We do have more guns per capita than any other nation, and with that we have more deaths per capita attributed to guns than any where else, undeniable statistics.

20 years ago more people were in favor of gun control, that has changed, in years to come and after another 50,000 dead by gunshot, the sentiment will change again.

I agree but I'm very pro gun i was gonna start leaving this thread alone but I cant help it. All gun control does it hurt law abiding citizens and give criminals weaker people to pray on. If you want a gun you will get a gun there is always a way there will never be 100% gun control because the bad guys will always have guns. More people are killed by drunk driving then guns so should we go back to the prohibition era. If you take away peoples rights to defend themselves i.e "gun control" you better protect them sense you just took there protection away. Police forces would have to double and there would have to be non corrupt cops because what good does it do if the cops are criminals too.
