I'm getting back into heavy bass fishing again for the first time in my life I'm actually sad I'm on vacation no bass fishing here. i been going every day several times a day for the past 2 weeks since getting back into it again.

im looking into buying a 3rd bait caster and rod setup/

i currently have the bps johnny morris setup with a 7' bionic blaze mh fast

as well another reel i need t get a rod for the reel is a abu garcia sx-hs I'm looking into pairing it with another rod. possibly for frogging is this reel any good for frogging also is it correct that you use 65# braid for frogging?

next up th either reel i was looking into buying its either going to be this one of the revo for my frog setup depending on what is th abetter choice. the shimano curado there about $225 it looks like in that range the cur ado 301 because i like left handed bait casters as i am left handed. also been looking at the other cheaper model the 201. is there much of a difference, and if the cur ado is the bette option to use as the reel for frogging what size would be best money is not an issue but saving money is nice.

next up the rod for frogging whats the preferred rod? I hear people claim they do use the 65# braid as i mentioned above. i don't want to buy the wrong set up and be out money. not sure what is the best rod i hear st.croix is supposed to be the best what action how fast how long etc. would really appreciate the help so i don't buy the wrong one.

i have just the reo but no rod for it so if the revo is good enough for frogging all i need is the pole, and i will hold off on the curado.

I like at least a 7' rod for froggin in MH or H with a fast to extra fast action. Almost any rod with these specs will be fine. St. Croix rods are stiffer than most. 50-65# braid is the standard.

Your revo will do just fine for frogging.

For your rod, I'd highly recommend you look at the Powell Max Frog rod.

They're only 169, and from all the Powells I have (No frog rod though) I wouldn't trade them for a Loomis. They're by far the best rods you can get for less than 200 dollars, and they feel very lightweight and crisp, but have all the backbone you'll ever need.

If you search for a review on Powell Max rods here, you'll find one I wrote a couple weeks ago.

I'd go with a 7'3" H or XH with an extra fast tip

The 301 is overkill for that not to mention heavier than necessary for what you want to use it for unless you are going to throw big swim baits or target larger species. This is not to put it down it is just that there are better choices and I do use shimano reels.

What side is the handle on your current reels? A "left-handed" is labeled such because it's handle is on the left side of the reel. It is not necessarily intended for a left-handed person. If you are comfortable with Lh reels I'd say that is an exception to the convention but definitely possible. We know there are so many rh people out there that are accustomed to using rh reels because back then there wasn't much choice, lol.

I did the same thing when I bought my first bc reel and got a rh one. It felt so awkward. So the ones I bought were Lh and they felt much more comfortable. However, I trained myself to fish with it and can now fish with either type.
