westpalmfrogpunk Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Go with the Gambler Giggy head post head instead of the screw lock. They also have the screw lock available. Quote

Carrington Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 the megastrike shakey2 is the best shakeyhead ive used so far, you can get them from ***. Quote
SWMIBASSER Posted January 25, 2010 Author Posted January 25, 2010 I should clarify. It can't have a post either. I like the Strike King, Bite Me, Tru Tungsten, and Bagley heads, but good lord are they expensive. I've even looked at do-it molds but don't see what I'm looking for. Maybe my only choice will be to fork out the $$$$$ The reason I need a barbed head is my favorite worm for the technique is an elaztech worm and you can not screw it onto a a screw loc or insert a post. Super User Chris at Tech Posted January 25, 2010 Super User Posted January 25, 2010 Spotstickers are relatively cheap Quote

Super User CWB Posted January 25, 2010 Super User Posted January 25, 2010 I use these:http://www.***.com/descpageTERMSTRIKE-SKTFS.html Or Bagleys and I also use the 3X finesse worms. Price is similar but Bagleys gives you 4, Strike King gives you 3 painted, or 4 unpainted. Evo's are probably the best but a tad more expensive. They also will stand a regular plastic bait up better. Try here for best price:http://www.proanglers.com/catalog/pro_anglers_fishing_catalog.htm#shake2 Quote
tbird Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 I haven't tried these but they look promising. Omega Savior head Quote

Super User K_Mac Posted January 26, 2010 Super User Posted January 26, 2010 These are what I use. At $1 each they are not cheap though... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_78588_100010006_100000000_100010000_100-10-6 Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 26, 2010 Super User Posted January 26, 2010 Okie dokie, you want screw lock shakey heads. So far and I 've purchased from several brands to try, I haven 't found a single non screw shakey head that keeps the bait attached to the head, the bait most of the times simply slides from the bait keeper when a fish bites and what gets ripped and broken is the head of the bait, the next time you insert the head on the bait keeper once it 's torn on the first fish just keeps popping off. So back to pouring my own, now that Do-it has a mold for shakey heads it 's easier all you do is get the hooks, the bait keeper and the lead. Quote

I agree with you 100% And I won't abandon screw locs entirely. But for ElaZtec worms you can't screw them on. They are so durable, I'm not worried about them tearing on the barb. I haven't tried heating the screw lock, as was suggested, and I really don't think I want the hassle. I wish do-it sold a multi head mold. Tube heads in 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, shakey heads in 1/16 and 1/8, and cone head weedguard jig in 3/8oz. Now THAT would be the perfect mold. As it is, I can get all other jig heads so cheap, it just won't make sense to pour my own. Quote

Maybe my only choice will be to fork out the $$$$$ The reason I need a barbed head is my favorite worm for the technique is an elaztech worm and you can not screw it onto a a screw loc or insert a post. They are also my favorite, and there is a neat, quick, and simple fix. It takes three things. A candle, a safety pin, and a match or lighter. Heat the pin in the candle flame. Center it on the head of the SK finesse worm and press it into the head along the centerline to a depth of 3/4" - 1" deep. Can do a pack in a couple of minutes. Use a thin safety pin. You can use a needle, but you'll need to hold it with pliers, or you'll get burned. The heat doesn't conduct well beyond the loop of the safety pin. When you put it on a barbed post like the ShakE2 jig head, apply a drop of super glue. It will stay there until you lose the rig. Try the four inch coppertruese worm. I use it for shaky head fishing, and drop shotting as well. I don't use it exclusively for drop shotting, but I do for shaky head fishing. Neat, clean, quick. No fuss, no muss. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted January 26, 2010 Super User Posted January 26, 2010 I use these, they are actually cheaper at walmart. I have never had a problem with hook sharpness or quality. http://www.arkiejigs.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AJ&Product_Code=SKY&Category_Code=SK Quote
