Gander Mountain Brand Tubes - dont ask me why, but their 4" tubes flat out catch big fish for me 5. Venom Tubes - who doesnt love megastrike????? Quote
tbirds00 Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Strike king tubes as well as bass pro shops tubes. Quote
Aluma-Bass Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Yum Vibra King Tubes or the new Zoom salty super tube Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 20, 2012 Global Moderator Posted July 20, 2012 Strike King flipping tubes and BPS are the two I use the most if I'm flipping. Snack Daddy and Pour Boys Baits are my first pick on a jighead. Quote
basscrusher Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I only use tubes for smallmouth, really. I rig them exposed-hook (insert jighead) therefore flipping tubes don't really work for me (too long). Having said that, I used to use the skinny Zoom tubes alot, but rarely do anymore. I'll use any of the big, thick, bulky tubes out there, but my favorite is the Strike King coffee tube. My best colors are Chaos, Copper Craw (I think that's what it's called) and Goby-licious (even though there are no gobies where I fish...brown/purple is just a great color scheme). Either SK doesn't make them in black/blue, or they are always sold out when I go to stock up. In that case I get BPS tubes, or sometimes I find packs of Yum tubes (not the Vibra-king -- a non-ribbed tube) for $2 in bargain bins. They work just fine. I'm eager to try Zoom's new bigger tube, but nobody around me carries it yet. Quote
GoTakeANap Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 ive never caught a fish on tubes. where exactly do u fish tubes? Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted July 20, 2012 Super User Posted July 20, 2012 Gitzits, BPS, Yamamoto, Yum, and Strike King. Quote
nastynate Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 In my opinion these two companies have the best quality and selection of tube you would ever need. #1 Mizmo Big boy #2 Right bite salty tube Quote
bassh8er Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Of all the great baits Zoom has produced, I HATE their tubes; too skinny and rubbery. I like the SK vibra king tubes, but Chompers are my favorite; bulky but still compact. Quote
Will Wetline Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 The original 3 1/2" Gitzit does the job for me with smallies. Quote
Bass Dude Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 My favorite flippin' tubes are the Yum Vibra-king 4". For the smaller tubes I don't have a preference. Quote
NebraskaBasser Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Tubes? I fish FROM a (float) tube.and my favorite is...OH, not THAT KIND of tube! <lol> Seriously, I do fish from a float-tube, and mostly heavily weeded farm ponds. As such I fish "frogs" a lot, but also tubes. Because of the cover (AND I love a top-water strike), I like to fish my tubes weightless and prefer tubes that float. I've tried all manner of methods to make "regular" tubes float: pieces of sponge, pieces of foam, those foam ear plugs, etc. But they all add some "stiffness" to the tube's body... and I prefer the softness of an "unaltered" tube. My solution? Zman! Their tubes float a 4/0 hook without having to resort to alterations. They're tough too, so last all day. If they DO tear a little bit, I can rotate the tube half way around and make new holes. And because it's the PLASTIC that floatts the tube (and not "air" in the body cavity), it will still float. And being the tight-**** that I am, I'll even use Mend-It to seal the holes for re-use the next time. This all results in a tube that floats, a tube that works, and a tube with remarkable longevity! Still, if any of you know of any other "floating" tubes, or have w GOOD way to float a "normal" tube, I'm all ears!! (I have a TON of the "regular" tubes I'd like to use!) Quote
MNBASSIN Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 hey guys this is my first post new to the forum and love it so far, here is my two cents Tubes are my go to bait anytime anywhere Top 5 tubes Any Strike King especially coffee tubes Chompers Berkley powerbait flippin tubes Outlaw tubes Kamakazee Quote

(I have a TON of the "regular" tubes I'd like to use!) I've put styrofoam into the body of the tube, that works pretty well. I do it when using them on the back of carolina rigs. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 24, 2012 Super User Posted July 24, 2012 3 1/2" Gitzit for smallmouth, Mizmo Big Boy for largemouth. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted July 24, 2012 Super User Posted July 24, 2012 My favorite tubes in order: 1. River Rock baits 3.5" tube - The finest tube I ever fished!!! 2. Gitzit 3.5" tube - A good tube with better consistancy of plastic than most until I discovered River Rock. 3. Mizmo 3.5" smalljaws tube - I really like this tube also but the plastic is a bit on the harder side and it doesn't produce as well as the others when the bite is tough. Quote
NebraskaBasser Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 I've put styrofoam into the body of the tube, that works pretty well. I do it when using them on the back of carolina rigs. Actual styrofoam? I've tried cuttin slivers of SF from coffee cups. I don't recall now.. but I don't remember it working very well. I've also tried slivers of sponge, but the "fibers" seem to unravel as I try to insert them. I've also tried slivers of foam cut from closed-cell foam - like the insulation you put around water pipes. I've even tried those "floaty beads" (on the INSIDE of the tube) that you use to float your bait while Carolina rigging. About the only thing I haven't tried (but intend to) is to peg one of those "floaty-beads" or those foam bullet-weights IN FRONT OF a tube. If the bead, maybe it will look like the tube is "chasin' something". With the foam bullet wieight, i could reverse is and make a "popping-tube" out of it! Quote

Mad Fisherman Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Gitzit tubes. I caught the biggest bass of my life on a blue one. Saw it swimming up a small stream to a big pocket, I casted it right in front of him and did not move it. The bass eyed the tube for a second, and then sucked it up in to it's mouth(which resembled a cave) and I set the hook as hard as I could. It shot in all directions and after 5-10 minutes I was lipping a huge 10-12 lb bass and the second I held it my fingers were like chopmeat and I still believe I broke the state record with that fish by at least a pound or two. But I did not have a camera or a scale, but I have a picture of it in my head, and my parents saw it to, but soon I had to let it go. That was nearly half a decade ago, but I can still see that fish swimming off. Gitzit tubes all the way baby! Quote

NebraskaBasser Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Disposable ear plugs inserted inside the tube. The bomb! Actually, I've tried those too! But I cut it "shorter' and think I should have cut it length-wise instead. The key is to get something skinny enough that it will float the tube AND STILL NOT be so "bulky" to lose all the tube's hollow-body and softness benefits. (Kind of the reason that I liked the Z-Man tubes and the others that already float on their own. ) Quote
