Never caught a pike on a wacky rigged senko. On the other hand a T-rigged senko is a great pike bait.

If the pike are on, they are pretty voracious -- they'll eat anything. I have caught a number of them on wacky rigged plastics. I never use wire -- just too lazy and I'm primarily targeting bass.

Nice. A fellow member from the same city as me.

If you are there to target bass then I would just stick with your typical wacky rig/t-rig set up. If the pike becomes an issue then put on the wire leader.

Use Cortland Toothy Critter in 10#. It's inexpensive tieable fly leader, but works great. Bass don't care about it, and you'll save on hooks.

Pike will take any lures, including soft plastics. It's only half pike, but I did witness a very nice Tiger Muskie caught on a wacky-rigged Senko.

I've caught plenty pike on wacky rigged senkos. You have to be really quick to feel the bite otherwise you end up losing your hook and senko.

Actually it seems that the pike are almost taking over a once plentiful bass lake of mine that I fish at which sucks. And marty is exactly right, pike will go after just about anything, Make sure, after you catch a pike that you check your line. If it is weakened in any way, cut down and retie.

If I have caught pike on top water frogs. They will eat a wacky rigged worm. I have never caught a pike on a wacky rigged worm. Mainly because I hardly ever use them. Out of all the pikes and muskies I have caught. I have only lose two or three lures to them. Even were I fish there are a lot of pike and muskies in the water. I do not use wire or any thing like that.

If you really are worried. You could do what J said.

I have caught some pickeral with wacky rigged senkos so I guess a pike or muskie would take one.

Several years too late but use a steel leader i do it kinda falls like its on a jighead and the fish love it

I've caught a few this way and they didn't break me off. It is pure chance as to where their teeth end up relative to your line.

For whatever reason of the 50 or so pike/muskie ive caught this year I think only one broke me off.

I also noticed the steel leader adds a tiny amount of weight which works for me but as long as you set the hook early you should be fine.
