ajwhite765 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I'm going to the Occoquan out of fountainhead on a rental boat and was curious about what areas and techniques are working at the moment. If anyone has any good tips they would be greatly appreciated. Quote
quanjig Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 From the marina you can go to the right up the the big structure jutting out into the water. This is the old dam and fish right across the entire lake from side to side. Also the point directly across from the ramp is good with shakey and Carolina rigs Quote
Bigbarge50 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Aj, just type the name of the body of water in the search function and you will literally get years of posts with tips. Love to hear how it went. Quote
ajwhite765 Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 it went pretty well, my dad caught 4 on a senko, i got tons of bites on jigs around 3/8 to 1/2 ounce but i am still learning to jig fish so no keepers on that but i did catch one on a crankbait on the point across from the boat rental. that is a great spot thanks quanjig Quote
quanjig Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 You are very welcome aj! Glad you and your dad were able to catch a couple! If you plan on fishing the res more, I would highly recommend you pick up a lake map and look for similar spots that produced for you and go exploring! It is a great fishery and it's hard to believe that it is so close to a large metropolitan area, enjoy! Quote
